  • Wait, a vDub?

We picked this bunny up somewhere 'round the beginning of January 2011. It was in rough shape, it had some bodywork issues but the heart was healthy and running, even though he wasn't started for around 6 months. Here are the pics when we picked him up:

As you can see, he was pretty beaten up. At that moment, finance issues didn't let us get going on the project (finishing bodywork and making sure it's running like a charm). The car was sitting in the garage till the end of January, and then it was registered and street capable.

Before the registration, our friend brought his professional polishing machine and we went over the whole car, just because the car won't be in the paint shop for a while (stay tuned, it's happening later in the thread).

Then after the polishing, we invited another of our friends to help us wire the car from the ground up. Our main goal was to fix the VDO original clocks because the installation was fried and to repair the cars stereo and get some speakers in it, we don't want silence

Aaaaaaaand this was recorded 2 days later, when we went to do diagnostics on the cars compression and fine tune the carburetor (crappy phone camera):

As a present from another friend, my brother got a original GTI gear knob:

A cheap MOMO steering wheel came up so we bought that and installed it the same day:

We decided to do a cheap restoration of the original 13" steelies, just that people don't think that we are doing Rat instead of German style

As I mentioned before, the cars wiring was **** so the Dashboard lights didn't work, so we went out and did the bright white dashboard lighting, it's superb.

And that was it, the next update was in 3 months, when my brother got a steady income and since the suspension on the car was **** we needed to get that fixed, so we got brand new Bilstein shock absorbers. We went to our pal so that he installs the shocks, and he gave us his 15" steelies so we could roll on them for a while... Pics:

And now, something we waited quite a while on, the restauration.
By that time, around the beginning of November, the car had a major whole in the drivers door, and it was really a message that we need to save the grey Bunny before it's too late.

We took out the doors and repaired the critical spot:

In the mean time, I shot around 300 photos so I didn't know what to upload  I think I lost that SD card somewhere in the house (stupid me). :screwy:

Oh btw. I forgot to mention, the color code is LA7W :

Anywho, let's hurry up and go to the finish line! The assembly:

We tracked down some Fondmetal 13x6 rims for the Bunny, they need to be restaured.

... and in the end, the car assembled. Still waiting for a proper photoshoot, though.

The paintjob could've turned out better, but the car is in mint shape right now. Now the tuning can start btw. I forgot to mention, the car's heart is a little 1.1 petrol engine, 4 speed, but it can run around 150km/h on the highway

The plans for this build is Stance of course, time to track down some 13x7 ATS Classics on 175/50/13 tires, and some Raceland coilovers

Thanks for replying my friend, your brothers CC edition is really fucking sweet

Do you agree with me that the small lip on the front is way more fancier and subtle than the GTI Lip?
Do you intend on dropping your Mk1 closer to the ground? It will be sweet.

Oh yeah, I forgot to mention that in the meantime of this build another bunny showed up for a low amount of money, '83 Rabbit, 1.1 engine
