The car isn't in my possession yet due to some crazy voltage issue... turns out the brand new alternator on the car was shot! The alternator has been replaced and it runs almost perfect now, aside from some misfires. Those will be sorted out shortly. The power steering pump needs to be bled so it's whining pretty badly in the video.

              Another shot:

I also picked up a set of OZ Fittipaldis that I need to re-size.

It turns out that the alternator I bought brand new was bad, or wouldn't ground properly. Go figure.

The plugs were toast after running rich for the week... changed them and the misfires were gone!

Once that was figured out, I needed a bit of protection for the front end of the car, and myself and passengers. Greg and Chris Harte at Tyrolsport whipped up this rebar in an hour and a half from rollcage tubing and fab skills. It's a pretty slick part and it sucks that it'll be hidden behind the bumper.

I've still got a bit of an issue with the headlight and taillight on the driver's side but the car is driveable!!!!

I took it home last Saturday night. It's weird to be back in my GTI after over 3 years but the car felt just like it did when I took it off the road... although it feels just as fast now as it did when I had the VF Stage II+ kit on it, and that's with only 7lbs. of boost throught the turbos. I can't imagine what it'll feel like with 21lbs...

                    Parked in the driveway:

Now you see why I titled the thread "Lower It'. The fronts will come down more once we're sure that the motor is fully sorted out. It was such a pain to get on any lifts that spinning the coils up had to be done.

The power steering pump will hopefully be replaced before Saturday so I can bring the car to Dubs on Defrost.

nice! that thing should be pretty fun to drive with the boost cranked up!

Here's how I took the car down to SOWO over the weekend.

Bay shot... We've still got to setup the boost controller and get a final tune... even so, this thing is so much fun to drive!

Looking good though and I wanna see a good dyno pull of that thing!

ps: just found this pattern which would almost look good

Here's a shot of the other side

It's a bit hard to see, but the pattern on the car is from the right pant leg of the piece of art on the fender. We blew it up so the detail could be seen.
