so, Im bringing this thread back from the dead, as work shall progress on the e21 this winter. She had a few complexities right before first class fitment back in October, and has basically been sitting since. Fortunately, we did just about every bit of maintenance we could think of, and the culprit for the issues all stemming from a faulty fuel pump..
now that she is all back and running, we got a chance to put on a few additions... euro bumpers for one. pics will come tomorrow. made a world of difference, although now we have lots of new work to do
-rear lower body has to be worked on. holes welded shut, paint, etc
-exhaust has to change - should be a fun project. going to definitely redesign the whole thing, and might have a nice new area to exit out of
-big small headlights need to go on
oh and the interior is still a mess... need to get on this stat.
And lastly, I decided to make a crazy call in the wheel department, and am building a truly one off set for this thing.. should totally change the look of the car. Its in process now. All I am going to say is that it is truly a custom job and a huge mix of efforts to get it complete. This winter is full of wheel builds by me for quite a group of cars, and this particular one is at the top of the scales in terms of insanity. Itching to get it all completed and assembled. spent a few nights in the cold hand sanding the aluminum on the faces so it was of concourse quality prior to the finishing of the faces, and thats the stage its currently at..
The set combines one off wheel parts we are now prototyping for the outer lips, cnc cutting and machining faces, lots of welding cutting shaping and drilling, hand polishing, a little time on the wood lathe, some laser etching, vinyl graphics, and gold plating. Yeah all for one set of wheels. Oh and the biggest thing, its all done to a set from the '70s.. a vintage time appropriate build was essentialLast edited by 1badg35; 12-07-2012, 01:07 PM.sigpic

just means the front needs to go down more... and thats in the plans. Nick (theneek) seems to be pioneering this right now, and I intend to follow on this one

haha that would be awesome. Definitely would love to see some vector work done to someones clean e21 out there. Not sure this one is worthy quite yet though, compared to some of the other e21 builds out there.. I love the numerous 2002 renders that have been forth over the years, and it would be great to see a few more obscure cars in renders though.Last edited by 1badg35; 12-10-2012, 04:08 PM.sigpic
