No more BMW for a while

The SLOW BUILD just got a bit slower as I started my studies in the UK.

Last time I saw the beast it looked like this...

Hopefully it will be in one piece when I come back.

    Midnight oil

There has been no time to work on my car as I had other projects going on.
Decided to paint the front valance .
It was hanging on the wall for three months, I had dipped it in a rust converter, so that it would not rust any further as it was bare metal.
You could call this the leftover valance, as every ingredient was a leftover from other projects.
    Photobucket

Started by removing the rust converter

A clean surface to work with.
The bare metal needs some protection, so I used acid primer.

Valance it self had a lot of dents and road ware, but as it was also very rusted I decided not to use any body filler as it will need to be replaced as soon as I have some cash.
Applied some acrylic primer and stone chip protection.

Left over paint and clear coat later we have a "LEFTOVER VALANCE"

Well unfortunately I just turned 20, so I guess I'm not that Young
It's great to see someone appreciate the work that I put in this car, usually at the workshop I get ridiculed for my attention for detail.
I had to go for the 1.8is because the car has never been registered in my country, and if I were to go for an engine that is bigger than mentioned in the documents there would be problems in the technical inspection. And in the end I would have to write a car rebuild project for the committee, and that is very expensive.
So the plan is to register it with the 1.8is, and afterwards replace it with a proper 6 cylinder.

So I mounted the heater and found out that there are no mounting studs that would fit the air ducts that I got from a donor 4door e30.

Also painted some faded plastic parts, now they look a bit better.

And I repainted the bumper strips because they had many battle scars

And a lot of work still to be done,
Started to fit the wiring loom and I already want to hang myself in it.
Also need to get brakes done.
And I don't have a clue how to get the engine running
