Best news of the build thus far - I have followed fluid motor unions work from day 1, always been a huge fan and had a great deal of respect for their artwork and attention to detail...Spoke with Michael today and I will be shipping the car to them to do all of the best work including : full cage with gussets, installation of flossman and arching of rear quarter panels for another 2" of widebody, side exit exhausts, paint, shaving of floorpan and engine bay, and much more...I wouldnt trust anyone else with my car so really looking forward to documenting the build through their eyes.
Thanks guys, curious how full polish would look - considered a full ceramic coating, or ceramic lip/polished face - shotpeened face?
The engine is built - was 460 at the wheels before the new work going into it.
So Jealous they get to do the work on your car! Car is in such good hands though! I am itching to do a cage in an M3 Coupe with gussets and all. cant wait to see progress
I apologize for the delay - I did a bit of traveling and finally got all of the old parts shipped out. Riggs @ ECS Tuning hooked me up with some hefty spacers / lugs to shoehorn that OEM 19's that I picked up in Washington around 385MM rotors...Tight-as-a-tiger :
I bring you the best update on the build thus far...Considering all previous mods are stripped along with fenders/rockers/trunk/bumpers/rear flares...There is not much more that I can do from here...So today the car was loaded into the trailer along with the flossman kit / quarter panels and every other mod still minty fresh in the boxes and sent on its way to FLUID MOTORUNION in Chicago :excited::excited::excited:. You all know their work, I am hoping this build can be a grail for them as it is for me.
I spoke with Michael back and forth for a bit and we both decided that it is in my best interests to tackle this project while teaming up with them...Over the years I have followed all of their work and took note of the quality / caliber of product that rolls out of the shop...I developed a respect for this quality as well as their controversial builds, afterall controversy is my end game. I will keep the build documented here and I am sure you can follow it on their site/fb as well.

FMU will be tackling...
-Install of all new body parts / Flossman
-Customizing the rear 1/4 panels & bowing them out 2.5-3" farther on each side E30 M3 style - The rear of the car with the flossman and this additional 3" should be insane. They will also be customizing the front fenders of the kit along with the front and rear bumpers considering there will be no rear exhaust anymore.
-Side exit exhaust using 3" pipe through the rocker panel with added muffler for a deep tone (ear bleeding I am sure) - fire breather anyone?
-Shaved molding
-Wire tuck / Shaved engine bay
-Shaved floor boards and sheet metal work to paint match
-Complete GTR style welded in cage with gusset work throughout
-Roof skin with sunroof delete
Lastly - Sorting out exactly which wheels and sizes I will be running on the car with a beefy set of tires.
That being said...Here we go, embarking on a long journey with a great shop and looking forward to the outcome. Feel free to give opinions / criticism / **** / love or whatever else during this build...its all constructive in the end and I appreciate the nudges along the way.
I am going back a page or 2 and changing the updates on the wheels as I had assured everyone that the wheels were sorted out and as of that week production would begin...However little did I know that the companies I worked with, either 1. Never answered the phone nor returned calls / email / texts, 2. Apparently too consumed in FB to sort out my order, 3. Made it seem like it was a full time job to hand over cash for product.....So while the clock turned and I had nowhere else to turn for wheels I decided to put my efforts in the more important areas of the build with Michael at FMU. This way we go wider, and once ready the wheels are built around the widebody and within the next 7-8 months I am sure that I will find a set of wheels to really suit this beast and someone more willing to work with us on the project. HRE's new vintage series
The last few snaps from my camera before some heavy hitting progress is made in Chicago...
Hands down painted floors but just take your time with wire wheel and propane torch in the all the hard to get areas that the dry ice can get and don't rush it. Well worth it!
Agreed - Thanks for that nudge man, the last few "go aheads" really turned the table and set me on the path for gutted floors...I will be sure its properly finished and clean enough to eat off of
do like this idea OJ, Mike, Craig, Tom and everyone out at FMU are such good people and their work is AAAMAZING!
Great guys - Character sells me more than anything and if it didnt, their product speaks enough for itself to say fvck bedside manner...The guys are ready to go and know their shite so thats all I needed to hear...Someone "wanting" to build my car as much as I want them to build it is a plus.

Thanks again, they will kill it for sure - I will post some pics shortly of the cage designs we plan to work around as well as a few other details.

Sounds insane with the e30 m3-style flares. here's to the new wheels being the 505's, that would be INSANITY. good on FMU as well for being the shop of choice, amazing stuff they do.
The car landed at FMU yesterday...I feel a weight lifted off of my shoulders knowing that it is finally there...I / Krystian will keep this thread updated with progress and you can also follow it on their facebook / website as progress is made.
wow that is going to be unreal , well done for having the balls to tear down an already impressive looking car and going BIG school on its ass
looking forward to updates
Thanks brother - Funny you say that, as it really did require watermellon testis to hack away at a car that sat pretty for the time being...Gutting all electronics / heat / ac / exhausts - elephantitis nuts

Thanks, all the reassurance is nice and by all means stop by anytime and keep up with the build, I would love to have your opinion as well.
No problem man, I am super excited to see updates and so happy you decided to go with the clean and painted interior. Probably going to be one of my favorite parts of the car Now the crew at FMU needs to hurry the EFF up Mike get off the internet and go motivate the boys
