So I needed a winter car while the benzes sleep for the winter. After looking around for a Passat wagon, and not having much luck finding one that I wanted (a manual) I decided to look for something else. This little guy popped up on craigslist for cheap, and within a week, he was mine.
May I present to you...
Samson Haynes.
This is a pic from the first night I picked it up, 12/7/2011:

1992 Vw gti! Its got the 8v in it, but a rust free, running, car it is. Its got the recaro interior and everything. Only thing wrong with it is a leaking coolant reservoir, new one on order.
The next day, I changed the oil and stuff. Nothing exciting. I ordered some goodies for it, a badgeless grill and stubby antenna from Black Forest Industries.
Yesterday, I decided I had to do something about the sagging headliner (it was nearly touching my head) so I went up to Joann fabrics and got some lumberjack flannel. Then I did this:

This morning, I installed it. I think out turned out pretty good. Got a lotta **** on it on the Pittsburgh VAG Facebook page, but who cares. I'm just trying to have some fun.

For those of you who know my one 190e, its also got a red and black interior, I thought id carry the theme over to the gti.
That's all for now. the car itself is lowered on springs, but I'll be picking up some coils for it after winter. I'll be updating this thread as I do things, just waiting on the grill and stuff to come in!
One more pic to leave you with, with my baby Benz in the back
