I'm debating my options on build style. I've always wanted an old school mini, but I think i'd rather build a static dropped old school later. I'm debating adding some "stance" style to it. I just wish it had IRS now!

I need some 5x114.3 16x7 +40 or so wheels. I like the rotiform single forge style but i'd like a touch of lip as well.

Can you guys throw some links on my post of different wheel manufacturers? I know the bigger names but haven't read/researched enough to really get an idea.

I'm thinking about going silver or gold paint now. Same wheels but have em chromed and running 165/50 tires. The powder is a blue/purple mix so I need colors that will match that well. I think Silver would work best. I plan on running copper lines, blue/purple powder, silver powder, chrome wheels. Interior color will probably bring the silver and copper pieces together a bit more. Possibly leather.

Anyone think this would be odd?

              sik mini!

on the colours, im not a big fan of silver cars with chrome wheels, so any other combo than that would probably look great. if the panels are warped though, maybe just hit it with a flat colour and then do a nice paintjob when you get straight panels and everything how you want it long term?

              keep up the good work

It is most definitely not getting paint until it is FULLY bodyworked. I'm wondering about doing an all silver outside scheme. The wheels, once polished up, are a fairly cool alloy/silver color. This could, in my head anyways, leave you searching for all the details. That being said, detailed would have to be perfect...absolutely perfect.

I could always color match the wheels to whichever accent color. Copper/Gold probe wheels...hmmm

I'd go with an era correct Japanese wheel. Not to mention i'm sure you can tuck lower than a +40 wheel. More like somewhere around 30-35 I would think. A nice set 17" work equips or something like that would be money under there. Or even better some real nice mesh wheels. Maybe some old ssr's or something.

And silver really would look good on there. Just make sure it's a good quality paint because silver is one of those colors that can look like absolute shit if it isn't done spot on.

You're right about the wheels, I can run a 30+ wheel on a 7 inch but I like to have a little wiggle room as I ride low 80% of the time and lifting to change lanes and what not is really annoying. My probes with drop spindles will probably not let me do too much "turning" as I'm sure you know, they push the wheels out a touch. A lot of people say they don't, but on my truck they certainly do...and they aren't AIM/Chassis Tech stuff.

I've thought of mesh wheels, but haven't seen them on a bodied truck like mine. That may be a good thing though.

I "can" run 17's, but something about this setup I have now, I don't want any larger. A 165/50 I believe is the exact same (1mm under) height. I'll probably run that size on whatever I end up getting. They seem impossible to find though. I REALLY don't want to run a 195/40 or something like that.

Had I had enough money for copper, that would be in the works right now as well. DOT line works for the time being.
Unfortunately, I know the feeling all to well. I tore my car down to the chassis (minus the wiring harness) two years ago, re-did most of the engine bay, then ran out of time and had to put it back together. Here I am staring at it going "I should pull that all out again..."

I look forward to the rest of your build, it makes me happy to see people taking builds into their own hands and just rocking it.

Look through VR Wheels, you have your pick of used JDM goodness.

I think a set of BBS Cruise wheels would look minty...

I actually saw those, and liked them. The lips could easily be polished and the faces could be left alone, or powdered. If only it were time to buy wheels haha. I hope to have the truck running and all early next week.

I need to secure the rear most wiring (tail light looms), put the battery in and wire it up, wire my switches (cake), and figure out which gauge gets which airlines. I think next on my major project list is the dashboard and seats. While I plan on going a bit lower (half way through the rockers) the dash and seats will remain as they are shape wise and all. I've got a buddy in GA that can easily handle all of it. Copper of some material, not sure if I want tweed, leather, or some other material. Seats will see the same treatment.

Yea I can understand the turning issues and stuff. I'm thinking seriously about putting the front of mine on air since I love the way it sits now but I can barely turn the damn thing. I haven't really seen any bagged trucks your body style on meshies either and I think it'd be sick and unique as hell. You're definitely sitting right on the 16's, I was just thinking 17's would fill it out a little more but I don't see much more reason to go bigger since they fit the truck, I'd just try to go with a classier style wheel.

You gotta go leather. Like saddle leather... with the silver and copper and stuff... I have the strangest erection right now...
