it was an easy job too, little frame fix and just a set of 67 seat covers. One of my favorite mods to this car yet. No highbacks blocking the view through, clean line of site straight thru the car, huge improvement.

side by side look at the high vs lows, i love them low look so much more

Got anymore info on this? I wanted to do this to my highback seats but i think mine are different. What covers do you get specifically?

                67 squareback covers from jbug

Vintage VW Parts, Classic Volkswagen Parts, VW Bug Parts, VW Beetle Parts, and VW Bus Parts.

your either the full highbacks like mine or the squaretop highbacks (there are 2 different squaretop models) but regardless the cut is all the same. Cut off the sidewall (the large steel tubing framing the entire seat) level with the top of the back support springs, see picture below:

then i used 2 1/4" metal rods to reframe the square seat

ziptied them and then a couple tap welds, reupholstered them to snug with some high density foam

its a layering process to get it to form up exactly how you want it

                    • This thing is beautiful. Bugs always pull at my heart strings lol wanted one since I was little. But now being 6'2" and 325 lbs I don't think it would be very comfortable.

                      • ripped that terrible dashpad off and filled the heat/defrost vents and several other useless cutouts

still have no idea what to do about radio slot, just put plates in for now

first welded in plates to cover, then bondo

                        after paint

                        assembled

                        • Do you need a boat license to drive this? The steering wheel looks humongous in these photos.
                          I like it though.

dash is about 6" tall, framed with the steering wheel it messes with you. Wheel is 15" even smaller than OEM.

although i do have a boaters license...
