Keep the whiteblock. Cams, an ARD reflash or a drop-in ECU, and coils are all you'll need.
Gotta **** those damn angle gears that die on EVERY V70 in existence. Oddly enough I see more XCs with them intact.
If you really want to get nuts in the rear, swap in a rear subframe from a pre-'97 Cougar or Thunderbird - they already have the 5x108 bolt pattern, disc brakes, it's IRS, and an indestructible Ford 8.8 diff with unlimited LSD and locker options. The track width isn't too far different either. From there, I'd say get the T5 trans adapter from Triangles Unlimited / Kaplenkhe, turn your existing whiteblock 90-degrees, and kick major ass.
I'm a huge V70 fan. I'd own one if my credit wasn't shit and I didn't have 6 other projects and no money. BTW, I **** you for getting yours for $200. I paid more than that for my '79 242DL as a rolling shell, lol.
Holy shit stanceworks. It's UPDATE TIME!
So the last few weeks have been eventful. Trying to get the car prepped for the cruise to dustoff, and then Carlisle.
First things first, the snubby front lip was bothering me. So I bought another one extended it.
Apparently I suck ass at plastic welding so I made some canards to cover up the seams.
Then sourced some fogs at the scrapyard for the whopping price of 15 bucks.
reppin the vtstrong plate.
Next up was getting the shag wag dropped more. Ended up sitting pretty good, cant go any lower in the front till I roll the fenders.
And finally I deleted the rear wiper, now currently rocking a PBR cap.
Also have decided to ditch the green 17s. The specs of them are hardly worth working around (17x7, et40) so I'm having a set of 16" steelies widened to 16x10 rear and 16x9 front. They will be painted purple and that's that.
Updates soon. The weathers getting better.
