Hi everyone,
I'm new to this forum, all the way from South Africa
A little bit of a history, or as I understand it . Over here, VW carried on making the MK1 Golf up untill last year and it was called the Citi Golf, as some of you might know. They were made locally by the factory in Cape Town. Since then, VW has decided they have to replace the MK1 with a newer, safer car, that falls into more or less the same price range and they came up with the Polo Vivo. They decided that in order to keep costs down to compete with the MK1, they would have to manufacture the parts locally, but in essence it is actually a 9N3 that has had a facelift and some other touches here and there.
Ok so on to the my ride now
Car: 2010 Volkswagen Polo Vivo 1.4 Trendline Sedan
Mods done: Not too much done yet, except an induction and some aesthetics.
In 2010 I bought this car as a family car for the SO, which soon lead to chaos as some of my close friends will know. Since I bought the car I have driven it stock and decided that I had to do something to make the car more appealing to me and like the car more, cause I really despised the car and being seen in it.
So first up me and a friend did some playing around with stickers, courtesy of Stickerstash (www.stickerstash.co.za)...
Oh, the first sticker above is a saying I always say. It means forsure but with an added piece of humor....
Then we decided we have to do some serious detailing on our cars and the end results:
(The MK1 is my friends car, super hawtness)...
Then one evening, we were a bit bored and decied we want to attempt something else with stickerbombing. I have not seen this done anywhere in SA at the time, and this is our result...
After that I had to replace my stickers as they had some damage, thanks to a minor accident that I had. I got the following ones from the same place (stickerstash):
So, the car stayed like that for a while, driving on 14" stock rims and stock suspension, but I was in serious need of some wheels. I searched high and low and then eventually opted for a set of 17" BBS LM reps....
The stance is an absolute nightmare, but I had to save for some lowering springs. I then bought an ECS Tuning stubby aerial from a friend who had it on his car when he sold it. I know that I have to change the base unit for it to lign up propperly, but this was a test fit I did (never took it off )
So the other evening, me and my friend went for a drive to collect my set of H&R lowering springs that I bought from a guy on one of our local forums here.
Then that very next day, I went through to the closest suspension shop and got them installed...cause just look at that 4x4...waaaaaaaaa
Look at the major difference between the stock springs and the H&R Springs
After they have installed the springs, I was amazed at the end result, so much so that I could barely take my eyes off of my car....
This is a shot of the rear wheel, right after they installed the springs, since then, the springs have settled a bit and it is now about 2-3cm lower than in this pic....
I would have added another pic of the stance as it is now currently, but I still have to copy the photos off of my camera
Please let me know what you guys think of my work so far. All comments welcome.
