Here is the process of swapping out euro bumpers for the ugly US spec diving boards.

Under the hood on the frame rail, you will find the bumper shock mount and bolt. Remove them on both sides.

Under the bumper shocks are bolts that also hold the bumper to the frame rail. (pic is after the shock was removed from the bumper to give a clear shot of the lower bolt)

This will allow you to remove the bumper and shock assembly as a whole. Quick and easy.

Next is to remove the lower valence. Two bolts near the frame rails.....

    Under the valence...

    behind the grill

in between the fender and bumper guard

    and it comes right off.

Next is to fit the euro bumper mounts into the stock location where the bumper shocks were initially.

This part of the frame rail will need to be removed so that the euro bumper bracket can slide a bit further in and so that the frame rail will not interfere with the lower valence.

I cut it off and was able to slip the mount through and aligned the holes for the bolt to pass through.

Lastly, I mounted the brackets to the bumper and fit the whole piece back on. Next will be the rear........

thanks guys. Zic, I had this car when I had the ACS wheels. I wanted to try a different look on the car. the wheels I have will be built last, as I need to buy lips for them. I need time to measure how much lip i can use on a moderate fender flare while still tucking and laying out.

the US bumpers will be gone. this is what I am currently working on. the euro bumpers arent a direct swap, so its requiring me to some cutting. its in the works........

I was just thinking to myself the other day how cool it would be to do a e23 after all the amazing e28's around here. Great generation of bimmers. Hope you lose the bumpers as well.
