  • slow&steady: mkiv gti budget build

never made a build thread before, figured id make one since i spend way too much time on here looking at everyone else's. im not new to the euro scene. first car was a 2.slo jetta. didn't do much since i was in highschool and had no clue how to mod. just did the basics (suspension+wheels). i was on ST coils and ASA wheels...looking back i have no clue what i was thinking...but anyway, car in question: '02 GTI 1.8T

got the car about a year and half ago ($6500 w/ 55k), completely riced out. so first priority was to go OEM.

so many things were wrong with the car, electrical issues, maintainence issues, etc.

    minor mods after inspection...
    -bought 20th double din radio
    -bought 20th exhaust
    -got rid of BOV
    -audi 90 bushings
-got rid of loose electrical wires (thought my car was gonna burn to ashes everytime I drove)
    -shaved rear wiper

-got a hell of a deal on used stasis coils (basically re-engineered koni coils) which don't go low, but at time of purchase i didnt care
    -needed to refinish headlights...badly

-bought 5mm spacers for my lame asa's

    first look:

    pieces started coming together:
    20th front lip

    with skirts/lip painted

    shaved front end

bought cheap aristos, put tires on them, cleaned em up - figured id try going the OEM+ route

as of now, don't really have any updated pics
    bought amber matching turns
    staggered dz 1 (17x8.5 17x10)
    stretched falken 512s

recently just blew out the clutch
timing belt/water pump are gonna be replaced within the next 5-7k miles. going home to pick up the car next week and installing my jetta ST coils in the rear so i can bring it down a little more.

    future plans:
    maintainence
    euro rear bumper
    smaller rear tires
    headliner/pillars
new shift knob and steering wheel (mine are worn as hell)
    shaved hatch

    C&C always welcomed
