  • my bagged MkV Golf

    Hi everyone.

Since I'm new on the forum, let me introduce myself.

    my name's Nico, I'm 23, and I'm from belgium.

    The car:

I bought this MkV Golf about 2 years ago from a friend of mine. It had really low mileage and i got it at a serious discount price.
    It's a 1.4 TSI, which has 170 BHP.

Over the past year or so i've made a lot of changes to the car.

    here's the story.

    bought it standard:

removed the logo's and rear wiper:

    lowered it with coilovers:

installed a new headunit, a Pioneer AVIC HD3:

bought a set of audi S5 wheels, 18x8J

started work on the in car entertainment part of the car. bought a Kicker amp and subwoofer:

made the entire install myself out of plywood, installed a 12V LED light and covered everything with a bit of cow. here's the finished result:

after about 3 months i sold the S5 wheels and bought a set of BBS LM's, 18x8.5 for the front, 18x 9.5 on the rear. The wheels were painted in red with polished lips. the guy who painted them did an awful paintjob, i wiped some of the paint off while cleaning them. he didn't sand trough the clearcoat deep enough before painting them.

past winter, i started to do some serious bodywork to the car and got the wheels repainted.

first of all, the wheels. i got the paint stripped chemically:

of course, this didn't do any good to the polished lips, so i took a few hours to repolish them. here's a pic so you can really see the difference:

then i took them to my local bodyshop to give them a new coat of paint.
i chose porsche's macadamia metallic, a dark brown with gold and silver flakes in it:

finished them with some gold bolts and put them back on the car, of which i lowered the front some more first:

then i started work on the body of the car:

got a GTI front bumper, a shaved GTI rear bumper with cutouts for dual exhaust tips and a set of GTI sideskirts:

then i started work in my local bodyshop. i did most of the sanding myself, but left the welding and final prepping and spraying to the experts to be sure it would be done properly.

    here's some pics:

got rid of the logo on the trunk:

    welded the hood:

front bumper, shaved and prepped for paint:

sideskirts, i sanded out all of the grainy structure to get the smoothest possible finish:

bought a new rear bumper skirt as a donor for the one i had. i wanted it to be as smooth as possible and decided to get rid of the exhaust cutouts:

prepped my new grille for paint:

    finished result:

    front bumper:

    rear bumper:

    sideskirts:

grille, the red line has been painted to match the colour of the wheels:

    everything mounted on the car:

and finally i bought some short rear springs and removed the rear spacers, which gave me this result:

wheelgap is like a vagina. the more fingers you get in, the worse it is!

past july, a friend of me who sold his jetta offered me his airride set at a price i just couldn't refuse.
so we got around to installing everything a few days later.
i didn't take any pictures of installing the bags themselves, but here are a few of the tank, the controls and the finished result:

        fitted the tank:

polished it. i'm going to polish it again this winter because i'm not pleased with the result:

        before:

        after polishing:

closed the seams between the plywood pieces with polyester putty:

        wrapped everything with new leather:

the controls, with a switch for the light in the gauge. i'm going to stickerbomb it, i'm expecting the stickerbomb book any day now.

        finished installing everything:

and now it looks like this

        no more wheelgap

almost forgot, i bought a UK reversing light so the lights in the trunk lid would match:

and these are the future plans:

          -GTI or custom interior
-OZ futura's, 9x18 in front, 9.5 or 10x18 in the rear.
-i want to do something with the engine bay, but i'm still not sure what.

            thanks.

the license plate bracket has already been replaced with a stronger one, because this one contantly hit the ground, which bent the license plate.

i just love mkV's... and your's looks really really nice

LM's looks nice on the car, but in mkV's I really like to see Alphard's...in a 215 tyre

In your LM's I also think that they need original golden BBS center caps...
