I'm never as patient as I hope to be... after phoning the world (by world I mean most of the places I could think of within 150 miles) about puting tires on a 15" wide wheel, and having them laugh at me, a co-worked phoned a guy who worked in a garage literally across the street from our building. Apparently they do a lot of tire changing for the Road America enthusiasts/racers (Road America is about 50 miles southeast of us), and I never even knew this... I took the wheels and tires over after work and they were on in less than 3 minutes. Here are the results:

As the Z currently sits, the rocker panel is exactly 6" off the ground in front of the rear wheel, and 5-5/8" right behind the front wheel. My intention (when all is said and done) is to have the rear at 2" and the front at 1.5". The frame rails are about 3.75" from the ground now... they (along with the rest of the floor/tranny tunnel/firewall/strut towers/suspensions) will be removed, and a tube frame will take the place. The bottom of the frame will be flush with the rocker panels, allowing it to be lowered as it needs to be. The front crossmember/oil pan/trannsmission/rear diff/etc. will all sit up within the profile of the body, nothing will hang below the framework.
