    • Did you consider, or is it even possible, to put in deep tubs in the rear with an extremely shortened axle to get the rears to stuff under those stock fenders? But I guess you'd still have had the super wide track out front unless you when skinnier up there. Just asking, but regardless this will be jaw dropping. I like where this is going. Any teasers as to the final color of the car?

          • The past few weeks have been been spent finishing up customer cars, which doesn't leave much time for the Z, but it's all good stuff so I can never complain...

We were able to put the Z on a diet the other night however, and progress is starting to happen...

Having removed the front end and floor pan, I can start to see things a bit more clearly. The T-square represents the line of the main hoop of the roll cage... it will be 90 degrees from the frame, as apposed to laying back at 5-10. This will strengthen the cockpit, simplify the layout, and push the rear wheels back by about 5-6" on center. The front wheels also get pushed forward about 10", for an overall wheelbase of around 105"+/-, vs. the stock 90.4". This makes for a much more stable ride at speed, and a bit more predictable/progressive in the corners. The height in these photos is still about 1.375" higher than it will be once complete.
The back end/floor/strut towers will be cut away this weekend, all measurements will be verified, and the new frame/roll cage will begin.

              • Gonna brace it up so the shell stays in shape? Really interested to see what you do with the bodywork when you move the rear wheels back. I think that's the one thing I've never seen done to a Z.
