I have a low mileage 5M for the wagon. I will be adding exhaust and intake to it before it goes in though. The 83 Supra is getting a pretty much stock built 7MGTE and then it is going to my brother. The celica is eventually getting a 20/22R hybrid with a lumpy cam. I have a complete 22RTE set up that may get thrown in instead. Plan is this:
    1. Get the engine in the wagon and get it running.
    2. Get the engine in the Supra and get it out to the brother.
    3. Finally get the Celica completely torn down and do bodywork and paint.

The wagon will be the winter project as it is usually pretty mild aroumd here. I will hopefully get the Supra done and out by next summer.

Till all that, I am gonna rock the rat look on the Celica.

why keep it 20/22r, why not go 3stge or even 3tc? or even put power into the celica and run some 1uz or 1/2jz power?? 22r's are too anemic to run for such a nice car... even a 4age would do it better...

not tryin to be rude, so Im sorry if it comes off that way, just curious. Im a corolla nut as I have owned 5 with 2 current, so I kinda favor those motors

No taken as rude at all sir! I am using the 20/22R Hybrid 'cause it is what I have. I was given a trashed 83 Celica GT with a good 22R. So basically it is free. I can up the compression by using the 20R head on the 22R block. You can get it to rev quicker by using alot of old school tricks. Using the aluminium 22R rockers rather than the cast iron ones from the 20R and such. The preivous owner also gave me a good deal on some go fast parts for the 20R such as a 80s vintage Crower cam, adjustable cam gear and some other little trinkets. After it is said and done, I should see about 140-160 Hp and about the same amount of torque.
The thing I like about the R series hybrids is the torque curve... there is none. You get pretty much just as much torque in first as you get in fifth gear.
I have a buddy I am helping drop an LS into a 71 240. If I want power, for the price of the JZ or UZ series, I could have 400 Hp in a smaller package. Best bet for power in these early celicas is actually a well built 7MGTE. They drop right in with minor mods. About the only thing you need to do is bash the tranny tunnel and flip the shifter location foward. Other than that the 7M drops right in like it belongs.
          Sorry for the rambling.

Oklahoma, where in Tenn you located? I used to stop in Murfeesboro(sp?) all the time when I would drive back to the parents in my first Celica.

Okay, after looking at several options, I have my heart set on using these rims on the celica...

Sorry for the really crappy quick photoshop. They have been sitting in my shed for about 2 years. I will need to do a 5 lug swap before I can use them. That involves finding an MX83 I can rob the front suspension from and an old hilux to steal the rear axle from. Till then, anybody know where I can get some cheap 4 to 5 lug adapters?

                    .
Those are Mitsubishi Starion wheels ..... I think they are 16x8 -10 and 16x7 +18

so you probably can't fit hub adapters .... . Do some research,, ,, but I think even a zero offset 16x8 would be hard to fit in the rear without any spacers

Oh, I have done the research and they will fit. There are several others in the old toyota community that are running them. I originally bought them for my 83 Supra, but have decided that I really want them on the Celica. The fronts will most likely need the spacers more than the back. Of course, if I get 4 to 5 lug adapters, those will work as the spacers as long as I get them in the right size.

Okay, long time no movement on this. Been too busy driving the wheels off of it and a couple of other things. Picked up an 85 Celica GT for a stupid price. Having lots of fun with that right now, nothing special, 300K+, one owner(who I knew) Slapped some supras on it and just drive the snot out of it. The supra got sold as I needed the space in the driveway... Some how I now ended up with a 91 MX83 Cressida. Went to an impound auction and it followed me home. Right now, slapped some Eibach MkIII Supra lowering springs on it, which I had laying around and called it good. The Conquest rims are going to go on the cressi for the time being. I have the parts for the 5 lug swap on the celica, but the previous owner called me up and asked if I wanted the rims he originally had on the car... wait for it... American Racing Libre in 14x9 and 14x10! Still deciding... onto the pics...

91 Cressida 'nuff said... new stance, but still not low enough

I did recover about 12 bucks in quarters under the rear seat while installing the new springs. I also have some RX-7 AGXs that will go on eventually as well. Thinking about dropping the 7MGTE that was destined for the supra into this one. Then let the wife drive it, without telling her...

You can see 'whitey' in front of the cressi in the above shot. Here she is, just stock... this is before the Supra P-type rims. These are the L-type rims. P-types just have a bit more dish. Thinking about rebarreling a set of 15 inch Dyna-lite meshs I have sitting around for this one...

Funnest thing lately, went to move one of my other cressi wagons... yes I have a couple... and found this when I went to replace the battery to start it...

Very upset that we were evicting her...

Oh yeah, I do have all the parts for the five lug swap. MX83 struts, spindles and hubs, 300Z brakes, hi-lux rear end. Just have to get the suspension geometry worked out. Of course, that means taking it off the road for awhile and I am just having way too much fun with it right now... Starting that work on one of the extra clips, but it will be easier to do it on the real car.

The right side strut is actually an MX73 strut that I had laying around(big brake swap for the 85 GT)
