a few shitty iphone pics from today... went to the junkyard after school and picked up a bench seat from the back of a gmc suv of some sort



put the new wheels on to see what they look like and i think im gonna need some bigger lips.... gotta get the front down too. its way higher than the back. the control arms are hitting the subframe mounts. i either need to get some ball joint extenders or notch the control arms in some way. im not 100% sure i want to do either of those things.

Hey everyone, my name is Martin and I am from Calgary. I drive a 2004 Jetta and bought this 1990 as a project car. Originally I didn't plan on making a build thread or even taking pictures of this car as I went. I decided it would be a good idea as of late. The project took a completely different turn and its going to be in the garage all winter so here we go. It started out about 6 months ago, a kid I went to school with had been driving this car and he got a new civic so I asked him how much he wanted for it. It had lots of surface rust but I had taken a look at it and the rest of the car was rust free. I got the car for $450 but I was unsure of what I was going to do with it at this point. Any way I went, the car was getting lowered so the next day I ordered some coilovers.







Got tired of the rust about 3 days later and started sanding the paint off and grinding / cutting rust away. About another week passed and it looked like this...



The car ran like shit. It had a 1.8L 8v engine with almost 300,000 kms on it. It had not been cared for very well. No service records, the previous owner didn't even know when the last oil change was. At this point I got busy with other stuff. My family was moving to a new house and school was ending so I put the car aside for a while. The timing for the next event couldn't have been better.

A friend of mine with a bagged 1.8t Jetta was driving in a community with construction at night and ended up putting the car into the curb. Long story short, the car was totalled and he decided to part it out. I told him I would take the engine, ecu, all the wiring, and the dash. I had to help him pull it all from the car. We spent a few nights working to get it out and took it to my house in his chevy astrovan I'm kind of upset I didn't get any photos of that. First thing I did was pull out the interior and the engine. Almost everything from the car got scrapped. I kept the door cards and the rear bench which are yet to be re-covered.







I started tearing the wiring apart so that I could put the mk2 fusebox and mk4 fusebox / relays into one bigger mess . This was a few months ago, I have been fairly busy with school starting again but I have been using any free time I get to work on this. I picked up a pretty decent set of RM's the other day. If anybody has a set of 2" lips they are selling, let me know. Here are the wheels and some other recent photos.....
