  • think inside the box!! kidGT's Volvo 242GT

sup guys!! ive been on stance works for a while and nows when i finally got to making my build thread i drive a 1980 Volvo 242GT...i got it back in 2006 when i was in 10th grade and broke as hell...its been my one n only car since then and has always been daily driven

this was the day i first got it...n i kno it looked bad but i knew it had potential

the first thing i did was paint the grill n swap out my headlights

then came my 1st set of wheels...1 piece bbs rs 16x7 (note this was wayyy before the fitment scene) they were in bad condition but the were refinished before i even put them on

n right off the back i had to get low...being in high school n not having a job cut springs was the way to go

n then i needed more power...sooo the fun began...i swapped out the stock 2.0 n/a motor to a newer 93' 2.3 turbo motor...this setup didnt stay for long because the turbo got fried so i went bigger n changed the exhaust manifold...also upgraded from a 4spd trans to a 5spd with 6puck bronze clutch
    out with the old

    in with the boost =P

n while i was at it i changed my seats out for some 350Z seats

time for new wheels!! 16x7 ARE mesh wheels...different offset and more dish (the fitment scene is starting out)

    refinishing them

    later on...

i picked up a set of skinny bumpers from a friend n swapped these bad boys in...i swear the car lost like 25lbs n these tucked in alot more

interior pics after seats were in n all cleaned up

then on new years eve 2011 i got a hit and run parked outside my girls house =( ...destroyed my front end and RARE ass grill fml

straightened out the radiator support n hood...removed everything broken...and straightened out a couple other things that got bent

i didnt let that bring me down...i began the search for a grill n found one...not the same but still looked good...some time passed and i didnt do much to my car....thats cus i was saving up to get some custom built coilovers (since they dont make anything for volvo =/) dropped about one more inch but gave me a better ride and the ability to switch out springs n setups

this is after coilovers n restoring the grill...basicly what my cars like right now

as of now i traded my wheels....they had a long trip to the UK and i already received my new goodies =D...started doin work on them already so im pretty excited to get them on

heres a lil teaser on the fitment (ill post up specs once they are all refinished)

I'm typically not a fan of volvos but I can only give this love. This is sick.

Thanks, it's in good hands. I'll be putting in a B230ft among other things this winter, so it will be a whole new car next season.
