It took a while to get everything together for the steering wheel, but managed to score all parts from the Dutch Mini-forum, apart from the steering wheel itself, that I got from a German dealer.

      #0 old situation

      #1 disconnected battery

#2 old steering wheel without airbag

      #3 old airbag

      #4 no steering wheel

      #5 difference old/new

#6 new steering wheel without airbag

      #7 and complete

      #8

      #9

#10 working backlight, no error messages, radio/cruise/horn works, didn't test the airbag

Now let's get some work done on the rest of the interior...

Amazing photography and a well documented build so far, look forward to where it goes.

The JCW wheel looks way better than the lame original two-spoke one.

Thanks guys! I knew I wanted this steering wheel before I got the car itself...

                Here's another before/after:

I bought 3 meters of genuine Alcantara material and started covering some interior parts. Some progress pics...

Decided to start on the hardest part, a JCW-Shiftlight. I also asked my g/f for some help on the stitching:

                      More progress:

First door arm rest done, with silver/grey stitching:
