  • E34 - turbo, dogleg, nos?

    Let's post a project thread

This is a E34 wich i bought in near mint condition, needs some TLC but i think i will have it completely sorted out before the beginning of next summer

Looked like this when i bought it about a month ago, except it had steel rims:

And this is how it looks today:

Suspension is Bilstein (AC Schnitzer) shocks & H&R coils!

What's going on with this car is the following:

It will have a M30B35 motor installed (There are however speculations, that the motor i've got is a M90)
    ARP studs (201-4602)
Custom fabricated TURBO exhaust manifold, preferrably & probably top-mount.
Holset HX35 turbo (i know it's a bit small, but it's what i've got in stock)
    External 60mm HKS wastegate & HKS blow-off.
Custom Intercooler to fit behind the kidneys (i would like suggestions on how people have gone around this on turboed E34s)
Siemens Deka IV 80lb/hr 830cc injectors
    VEMS standalone and wideband

I have all these sorted out except for the manifold, Intercooler and i have yet to purchase a VEMS unit...

Originally i intended to use a HX52/55 turbo but the first one i aquired was damaged and the other one i have is intended for my Dodge RAM CTD, so i've decided the HX35 is a good starting point since it's in very good condition, probably will spool quick, and be good for around 500hp.

Some speculations have risen that the M30 i aquired is probably a M90 motor, therefore with a 2mm shorter stroke and about 2mm wider bore. Compression ratio on this motor is 10:1 and i was going to use M30B35 pistons and crankshaft, but since these information has come to light all that has been compromised.

Current speculations are about using the M30B35 crank with the M90 pistons, and stroking it to 3.6 but then i was adviced that the connecting rods of the M90 and M30 are the same the difference is that the pin is positioned otherwise in the M90 pistons.

Has anyone here done something similar ?

Otherwise i would just run 94mm VW Pistons and bore some more

I will post a thread about my other project wich is a E36 ti (Compact) with a M57TUD30 swap shortly

M90? Im somewhat skeptical its actually an M90 those were only offered in 2 cars both of which are kinda rare. Either way I love E34s and cant wait to see where this build goes

The motor came out of a 1981 635CSi that had passed on because of rust....

Looks promissing, but the "Wheels" (not rimszsz) need the centercaps.
