well i thought as ive spent enough time browsing stanceworks i better post up my project.

    Meet Lana
she in stock condition and all ive done so far is put a set of 13in hotwire mags wrapped in 215/60R13 and 205/60R13 rubber to replace the steel wheels she came on. I have plans to lower her as soon as funds allow....

    so here she is:
    Lana, My 1984 VK Commodore

    first

I have plans for her and ill keep you all posted.

get those steel wheels widened and slam it man

100mm is 4x4 clearance lol, we have the same rules here, but being illegal low is just part of the stance deal

    PS welcome to SW

my cousin had one of these in aus when we were growing up. can you just cut the springs on it to lower it? that is cheap or is it illegal?

cut springs are illegal but there is tons of commodores on the road with chopped springs

            thanks for the welcome.
im intending to get her some 15 or 16in steels soon and widen and paint them

police over here have a zero tolerence take on cut springs, so she would get pink stickered and not keen for that to happen.
i have some parts floating round home that i will put to good use.
            but first things first,
once i have money bigger steels and some lowering springs will be coming my way

i thought its probably about time i update this thread soooo this is a quick rundown of what ive been up too
there was a streetkhana and carshow my hotrod club manukau rod and custom had organised for on october 24th coming up. i wanted to have a play in the streetkhana and Lana had some oil leaks from her engine so i decided id fix them before then so she wouldnt die on me hopefully

                engine bay

                DSC_0055

so i took the radiator out and bonnet off to make it easier to work on

                DSC_0082

                this is when it started....
decided to clean up bay and motor properly sooo removed engine and gear box

                6245163474_d59633e76d_b

this is state of engine and box once out of car

                DSC_0155

and the engine bay and valance.

                DSC_0303

cleaned up the gearbox. looks like new again

                DSC_0347

had a look at driveshaft. hanger bearing was perished with age so scraped paint off

                DSC_0291

dissassembled driveshaft replaced hangerbearing and re greased universal

                DSC_0388

                reassembled and painted it orange

                DSC_0442

clutch was worn out. worn right through the rivets and grooved pressure plate. so bought new clutch assembly.(old on left new on right)

                DSC_0329

started to clean up engine to prep for painting

                DSC_0418

had bay all sanded and masked ready to paint

                DSC_0438

decided i wasnt going to be happy with the engine bay as i wasnt going to be able to do as thorough job with brake booster and master cylinder in. and brake fluid needed done anywayss....so i removed it..

                DSC_0445

decided i may aswell do it properly so my idea of having it done for the 24th of october went out the window.......

                DSC_0453

                front end out

                DSC_0455

                and the guards off

                DSC_0461

so im aiming to have her back running again for a warrant in december so i can drive her in summer

                and to thank you for reading this pic heavy post i shall post up a photo i took for inspiration of how id like it to sit :}

looks like good progress man, so what you doing with front suspension?

have you considered doing like a weld on coilover kit, so you can adjust height?

                      Help....
Im indecisive about this. i have the front end apart painted and ready to go back together. but im stuck trying to make up my mind if i should replace all the old bushes now (there okay just old) with some new stuff while its apart. or just put it back together and save for new wheels/springs

She wont go fast enough for the new bushes to have any major handling advantages but itd be piece of mind. yet i want wheels and lows....

My first car was a VK, from experiance unless you replace all the bushes, tie rods and recondition the steering rack you will have no end of problems with the front end.
I lowered mine on koni adjustables with K mac camber plates you will be very suprised on how well it rides when it is low had no bounce or stiffness.
good luck with the build anyway.

well yet again its been a while since ive updated. Im slack as i know. i haven't really accomplished much ive just been enjoying driving her lately.
Well what have i been up to....
i got the engine back together, cleaned up the front end, painted the engine bay and put Lana back together

test run with no front clip.

                              CSC_0592

                              and all back together properly

                              DSC_0033

drift stitched the crack in her bumper

                              DSC_0071

was stoked to be driving her again and my sister made me a cool zebra shift boot so i bought the Lana a present

                              DSC_0331

decided to swap the stud pattern in my quest for stance so i purchsed a 6cyl commodore diff to go with the front suspension i purchased a while back

                              DSC_0336

was intending to clean it up and install it but not long after purchase...
she wouldnt start..... was like hmmm getting fuel and turning over sweet soooo shall see if getting spark took off dizzy cap and cranked ignition. no spin?
                              removed distributor and found this

                              DSC_0353

                              got this

                              DSC_0355

put it on. reset timing. stared first pop
Then was cruising and motor started "nunganunganungaing' and i confused myself as everyone i asked gave me a different reason from bottom end to pushrods. lost motivation so lana slept in garage for a while. then i missed driving it so i had a good listen and guessed it needed new hydraulic tappets
dissassembled valvetrain to get them out
