    • thanks Tobi. Car might actually be off for paint when you are taking the trip to NY but we will see.

a little update on the last detail for the engine bay before i can start on assembly. Finishing up the upper radiator support:

so, as i showed a page or so back, I cut out the center support portion of the radiator support since i dont want to run the hood latch any longer.

initial hole welding. decided to spiral inward and weld the entire hole shut rather then use scrap and weld that in

so this comes to tuesday night. Went over to the shop, and used the metal shearing machine and the metal brake to bend up a new center section. looked great

brought it back to the house on wednesday night and got to chopping and welding it in. welded up all of the seams after removing all of the existing seam sealer off the radiator support just for added strength. Definitely dont want anything to crack over time

then sat on the floor and welded above my head the underside of the panels just to make sure it all was perfect. Now for some smoothing and then paint in a few days

just to compare, this is how it looked before

that odd area between the center panel and the rad support where the hood latch mounted will now be smooth like the rest of the bay. No more big oval hole!

        • I did this with a gas mig. I only use tig for aluminum and for piping and some of the motor fab stuff. the mig welder makes more sense for me when im working on the body of the car.

          • Looking good. Did you put a piece of brass under the holes you were trying to plug?

Makes filling holes a lot easier.

              • Very nice.

Build is absolutely incredible as always, you're a good motivator for me to get back to tearing down my Prelude. Keep up the great work.

                • Been lurking and drooling over this build for some time now and LOVE the attention to detail along with the semi-anal retentiveness of it all. Don't know if I saw this anywhere else but what are your plans for holding the hood down now that the OEM hood latch is not there? Plus, what does the underside of the hood now look like?

                  • I am surprised you don't sleep in your car at times. The amount of love you show this thing is something I want to show my car one day.

                    • Glad I waited so long to check back up on this thread. I got to see 3 whole pages of new content. Still love everything. Still glad there's more to come.

                      • yeah it never will end.. already planning all of the work for this coming winter. It will be slowing down though. A set of one off wheels (the final set for the car) , some new 7000 series aluminum hubs (custom one off) and a few little things here and there. We were toying with the idea of doing a twin turbo kit mounted at the front of the car under the front fascia out of view, but i would much rather start the second project in a year or two after this house construction

with that said, as you can tell the car is slowly nearing completion... already working toward sourcing the project car to go along side of this in the garage

                              • I really wish you would pick up a 280z, I'd love to see what you could do with that. I am actually going to be sad this nearing completion. Twin turbo with a shaved bay? Oh god that will look great
