            • Cage parts I designed and did the cad drawings for should be here mid week. then time for some chopping and tig welding...

still need to decide on color for the cage as i am really back and forth on that decision. usually some things are obvious, this one not so much in my mind.

its either going to be shot in white with a pearl/metallic to match the wheels and bay scheme, or a much more subtle black gloss with a pop of metallic flake.

              • I think white on the cage would pop and add to the look you're going for. Hows the bodywork coming?

                • It hasnt started yet. I don't want to rush the metal work, so it's likely going to have to start after the show mid October. Under that timeline I have a few months to get it perfect and then either widen the wheels or possibly make another crazy decision... No matter what it should be fun

A close bud is shooting the plastics next week so once I see the color all done, it will hit me whether or not the cage should be white.
I'm big on simplicity, so I don't want the interior to scream white. But if it's subtle, I have no problem making it white. We shall see how it shapes up.

                    • Personally i would go with red cage..... make it part of the bodywork.

                      • nah to tell you the truth, I am not a "red" type of guy. If it wasnt for this car, i would never own a red car. Luckily, i love the way this car looks and how its progressed and actually came to like the original color on it. But im not a red kind of guy

I think the cage and detailed bit color is going to be pikes peak white from a 350z. pearl but not too crazy

i think this bike was shot in the same color

                        matching bits in the bay:

Likely, the bay wont likely look any different to most, the covers will be perfectly dripping with shiny paint though. Not like the white paint shot in a makeshift booth before. It was ok but not perfect, and now that shall change...

                        • i want to be honest. IMO the car is perfect the way it is now. I think you are in a point where you dont know what else to do with the car.

The fitment couldnt be better, the engine bay couldnt be cleaner, the stance couldnt be more perfect. I really wanna see now what you gonna do, because IMO there not much room for better.

if you widen even more the wheels, you will ruin the already perfect fitment..

I might be wrong of course, just judging from what i can read

                          • the biggest thing about the current fitment is the rear camber. I was into it for a little while, but I do not like the fact that my front and rear camber dont match. -4 all around is the goal (rear currently at -7ish) In doing this though, i cant keep the rear quarters the way they are. which is the reason for the subtle widening.

If for some reason this initial planning doesnt go as i am hoping, i will drop the widebody idea altogether. I am still super hesitant to mess with perfect condition 23 year old paint. hard as a rock i might add. With that said, i kind of want to get a little more tire on the ground, and really want camber to be the same all around.

Dont worry, fitment will likely be better then before. I dont strive for anything but perfection. haha. Even if it takes me an ungodly amount of time to achieve it

oh and by initial planning, hopefully i can mock it up this week. I have some ideas rolling around in my head, and they are about to come to life. And this will make or break it
