  • My BMW E36 project car

    Hi again folks,

I'm going to put some photos and share information of the process I've had till I got my E36 near the phase I want it to be
Please excuse my grammar flaws, because I'm not a regular english speaker, and specially not writer.
The general idea was to build a drift car, so I wasn't minding the model year, serial equipment, and things like that.
Only thing I looked for was a car with a 6 cylinder engine, and a car that wasn't put up together from two different cars. Chassis without any bigger crashes was No.1 condition!

    So let's get started...

I've decided that this 91' 320i fits the profile perfectly. Why?
because It looked funny on first sight?
worn suspension, bleached paint, destroyed interior and lot of other to me unimportant things that brought the price down were there,
But the chassis had absolutely no signs of any crashes, except for minor rust on fenders and doorsteps everything was in original condition.
I can't explain why I bought this silly looking car, but later it turned out that it was a good thing to look through the cosmetics and see the potential
    underneath that looks..

here are few photos of how it looked when I firs got it.

    So there it was...

First I got the rust fixed, got those parts repainted, and polished the rest of the car.
And before all that I got rid of those ridiculously looking wheels, and got my self a OE Style 24!

Here are few pic's of the process..

    gone for tune up!

    to be continued... soon...

      Hi,

      let me continue...

I'll try to explain all processes that I went through until I finally decided in witch way this project was going.
As I already mentioned, this car should have been my new drift car. I bought 3.0i M54 engine for it, but the engine was not complete, I was missing the the EWS, Code key and other significant parts which I thought I'll replace with some aftermarket part's. But the fact that I live in a small country where no one does serious work and stands behind it, I've decided to go with something less complicated and I've put a M52B28 engine inside. I also gave up the idea of making this a drift car, because I had no other car to drive at that moment, and there was also a very important reason which is called "the finance"

Let's now get back to thread...!
While car was on cosmetic treatment I started to collect parts.

      Photo's

First thing I bought was M Bumper!

      Supersprint manifolds

      D2 racing coil's DRIFT

      After I got a new set of wheels... the BBS RC 041 17" 7.5J ET41 all 4
      There is how they looked...

As you can see I had a lot of work on these... here is how it went...
      separation...

      Repolished edges...

      repainted middles

      got some new badges, and...

      Voila!!!
      We have a perfect wheel!

Meanwhile the paint job, and the polishing was finished. Considering the way car looked before... I was more than pleased... see for your selves

      BEFORE

      AFTER

      engine story coming right up...!

After completing cosmetics, we mounted the suspension, brakes, pulled the old 2.0i engine out and started do figure how to get the 3.0i inside to work properly and it got so complicated over the months, the prices went 100%, and I couldn't get any guarantee's that all the alchemy that needed to be done will work...that mede me very
There were also the fact's I've mentioned earlier... so... this is what happened...

I got tired of watching the car standing in mechanics back yard....

So I rushed to my friend's garage and purchased a 96' M52B28 engine, It was the easiest way to get my car going, because the engine was complete with electric, gearbox and everything I needed to install it in my E36.
Here are some photos of the process...

          Assembling the SUPERSPRINT manifolds

So... after we installed the engine and got everything working, I've started to collect other items I needed to civilize my car

I got the M-tech 2 steering wheel, M-tech seats, and rear bumper... and so I've completed M pack! inside and out!

            here are few photos...

So that's about it folks... of course this project was a lot more than these few pages, and it lasted for almost a year until I got all this together. This is shortened version.
More work awaits this car of course, I hope you like it so far....
            All comments are welcome.

information of new progress is coming soon...

And for closure, here are few edited photos to make the garage look nicer

Thank you, it really did come a long way... I still have a lot work on it, but that's why I love doing that, there is always something more to add or change...! All the small details that make one car special!
