  • VW Polo - UK Build Thread

    Hey all,

I'm new to the forum but thought i'd post up a build thread of my Polo from when i got it back in December '09 to now.

    Specs:

    Car:
    '01 VW Polo 1.4 TDI (3 Cylinder!) SE 3dr
    Flash Red
    Electric Windows/Sunroof/Central Locking etc.

    Chassis:
Slapped with the lowering stick by about 100mm on coilovers
BBS RS 15x7 ET38, flash red centres, polished dishes, bolts and centre nuts
    Wrapped in 165/50/15 Nankangs
    20mm Spacers on Rear Wheels

    Interior:
    Full GTI interior consisting of;
    - Cloth Front and rear seats (on the search for heated leather)
    - Leather Gearknob / Gaitor
    - Leather Handbrake (e-brake to the americans)
    - Leather Steering wheel

    Exterior:
    GTI Grille Set
Front splitter from Nissan Almera GTi (i think...)
Smaller EU Spec Drivers Side Wing Mirror

    ICE:
    Pioneer Headunit
Alpine Door Speakers (front and rear)
    Vibe 10" Sub

Now for some pictures! This is how I got the car in December 2009:

First off came the GTI upper grille with a custom touch:

    TDI Instead of GTI

Then another custom touch on the badge:

    Then off came the badges...

Got sick of the standard 4x4 stance so order some of these...

A few days later this happened....

It wasnt that practical to say the least... driving along a straight flat road with the driveshafts catching the chassis leg non stop! So it was raised slightly so i could drive straight resulting in this...

I got bored of rocking standard rims so decided to borrow my brothers Keskin KT1 Klassics:

This was only while I was working on my proper rims which I bought before the car in the summer of '09 from a friend. They went from this:

    to this:

Meanwhile I fitted a new front splitter from a Nissan Almera GTi. At least thats what I've been told its off and it looks like one so im gonna go with that... lol

Finally, I got to roll on some splits! Pictures from a show last year, most of them not taken by me!

    and after...

Needless to say, I loved the look they give the car! but I wasn't happy with the rear wheel stancing. Earlier this year I ordered some 20mm spacers for them to ideally bring them flush with the arches to get some stance before the winter when i split them, get the centres powder coated and some bigger dishes. Thinking of going for 1 inch dishes on the front and 2 inch dishes on the rear, taking them to 7.5j and 8.5j.

For some reason photobucket is being a homo and wont let me upload the picture I want so these will have to do...

And thats it up to date for now... plans for the future include a GTI rear spoiler as seen below (not my picture but shows the rear spoiler), gloss black vinyls between the side windows and wind deflectors. I currently have 2 clean headlights for the car as the current ones are stone chipped and full of dust also.

Thanks for looking and I'll try to keep this up to date!

    Andy.

Cleaning looking, wheels do need the bigger dishes definitely. I can't quite get why so many dub owners build up BBS with like 1/2" dishes ?

Thanks for the reply dude! I only put the standard dishes on as I picked them up cheap. I was a student at the time with hardly any money. I've got a job now so can afford to buy bigger dishes for next year
