Classy! but i'm getting boored out of the hub cap orginal-look.. sorry m8
I kinda dig some of the Riken mesh style wheels on some of the w114's on here, but I also think they have a sporty look to them that just doesn't suit an old big body benz like the w108. not quite the look im going for on this.
Dream wheels are custom 16" or 17" Barock 3pce wheels as they are made with a cut up original 60's era mercedes barock 15" bundt wheel for the face, however they are rare, and essentially a home made wheel, so I don't fancy having one fail on me. I heard whispers someone might be making them with TUV approval in germany, but not confirmed.
maybe one day an era-correct wheel will come along i'd consider we'll see, I've sure been scoping
Went to Socaleuro in SD on the weekend had a good time. I fitted the freshly polished caps - these were new caps that I did a final hand polish on, many hours later they are pretty much done.
Car is back from my buddies and suspension is now sorted - front RE-5 bags have had the brackets trimmed down 1.5" so about a 3" extra drop has been gained up front and clearance looks good around the bags also. Thanks Dan.
Finally gave her a wash and will do a full detail soon including interior
She's going in for some mechanical work next week, some bushings/seals and a rear wheel bearing are due.
Here is a couple shots I just took out the back of work;
The exhaust was always hanging very low on this, my buddy Dan tucked it up about 1.5" so now when fully aired out there is about .5" clearance, and that is after the front was adjusted to drop lower. so it's driveable aired out now.
I'll get some pics of how it's sitting now this weekend.
You can see the middle muffler now has some clearance rather than being pushed into the pavement hah
driving home in the fog. she's due for a good clean this Friday night before socaleuro on saturday
Widen some steelies and still be able to run the original caps then.
i dont mind this idea, but id also want to keep the whitewalls on there, and I guess you could stretch em out a little, but that may end up looking a little lowrider style.
right! maybe one day ill look at another wheel option to have as a backup, something bigger and wider. i find it hard to stray from the original caps tho!

I find RS's are too new for the car....what about removing the caps and painting the steelies gloss black with a bullet cap and chrome nuts, it would give it a classic hot rod look..
