How low can you get a classic Mini?

Yoyoyo! Saw your thread over on the Status Error forum, i love your mini such a great combo of parts and colour Will be interesting to hear your thoughts on the new things you've got for it.

If i was going for a swap i'd probably go the R1/Hayabusa route, just because of the lightweight, sequential box etc, but thats just me.


I just got mine back from the paint today, but here's some pictures of it before it went, purposeful stance!

Not a fan of the vtec if im honest, lots of weight out front spoils the handling from what i've heard, also the only way they fit properly is if you have the square clubman front or use an extended roundnose which looks wrong.
so staying with the A-series motor and going to boost it. which is easily done. I know A-series is a bit poop and old hat, but parts are cheap as chips and plentiful. so when it inevitably does go bang, or i smash the gearbox into the floor i'll source another and build again.

StatusError: thanks! ive seen snippets of yours on the blog on your main site i think? new engine should be in hopefully very soon, so will let you know how the flywheel is (as i didnt go for the lightest one in fear it would suck on the road.)

Carnage

So yeah this happened at the weekend.

Managed to get the trusty 998cc engine out with minimal fuss, just a stuck roll pin on the gearchange.

Swapped the bits over that i needed, mounts bracketry etc. once i took the flywheel housing off the 998 it was clear why i was getting clutch slip the crankshaft seal had let go and literally covered it.

Once it was all built up it was clear i still needed more bits to get it running, but fitted it like that as they can be done at a later date. What a pita it was to fit the new mounts ended up standing on the engine to get it to sit in there, as they were a fraction too big. will post another picture up once its all back together again

Well got to the point of being able to start the engine, and nothing! it turns over fine (when jumped off another car) but dosent seem to be firing which is abit annoying and time is ticking! didnt even feel like taking a picture today i was so dissapointed i just pushed it back into the corner and left it.

So after that dissapointing last post how about a happy post, yes? ok well it runs! not bad for an engine bought in a totally unknown state. however i spent 3times the price of the engine getting it in and running. nevermind....

You'd be right about that im on my 3rd set of arches. however its impossible to get tyres in this size. when i go to 7" wide (currently 6) i'll be using the same tyres so it'll be a little better, and get some camber going on aswell...

Nothing to do with the mini, but stripped the coilovers on the golf and removed the helper springs, which has left me with this now

As predicted the splitter scrapes along the floor, and the arches need rolling as i hit a bump on lock today and bent one outwards, had to use a jack handle at the side of the road to bend it back into shape :/...

and desperatly still need cheap wheels

The golf and the mini look sick dude i had a mini for my first car, such awesome cars love the direction your taking it. Your not too far from me aswell im in Tunbridge wells.
