I like the 16's but it needs to be majorly low to pull them off.

Got sick of looking at the gwing in a box awaiting the hardtop to be resprayed so decided to stick it on today. Really needs a subtle spoiler now though and dropped again. Then the exterior is finished.
Also got the JDM rear fogs fitted really really like them, think they finish the front off really well!
    Its coming together nicely.
Still got to light up the rear reflectors. Anyone got any info on it or ever done it?
I'll get some better pics up but it started raining outside when I was taking them.

                  Started out like this

                  IMG_4490 by davemx-5, on Flickr

                  IMG_4486 by davemx-5, on Flickr

So after a long time finally got some time and money to spend on this...
So after a bit of this

                  IMG_4629 by davemx-5, on Flickr

Then started to look at the front sills as muck and water was sitting in between the sill and wing wanted to do some basic rust proofing. Cleaned it all off with a wire brush then used kurust and painted on some waxoyl.

                  IMG_4730 by davemx-5, on Flickr

                  IMG_4731 by davemx-5, on Flickr

Then set off about fiberglassing and filling all the bumper wholes and the cracks and shit in the splitter. Got rid of the ugly rear fog as well and wired that into the drivers side reverse light. Also wired up the the sidelights for a bit of usdmness.

                  IMG_4573 by davemx-5, on Flickr

                  IMG_4671 by davemx-5, on Flickr

Then tidied up the wiring for the lights again

                  IMG_4650 by davemx-5, on Flickr

The wheels studs were a balls to replace one of the shitty alloy nuts snapped in half went I went to replace them. Went for extended wheel studs so I could run 10mm front and rear wheel spacers with no problems. Its ridiculous how short the standard studs are.

                  IMG_4549 by davemx-5, on Flickr

Here's the little runt of a thing after a dremel and sledge hammer persuasion ha

                  IMG_4761 by davemx-5, on Flickr

And here's the finished pictures delighted with the outcome. Still need to wet and dry sand the bumpers and buff it after the lacquer when I can be arsed and fit the mk2.5 s-vt brakes.

After buffing the hradtop and number plate panel matches the car now looks a lot better

Cheers man! Yeah makes it feel a lot nicer and quieter inside as well!

I think the height I have it at now is spot on! Doesn't catch on anything and looks well!

                        Bit more pic whoring ha!

Got the gwing back on finishes it off rightly!

And as you can see I still need to flatten the lacquer back and buff the front bumper and lower half of the rear bumper but have abosultely no spare time at the minute, back finishing off the master now!

Well after a bachelors, a stint in new york, a masters and a stint in London, I've finally settled in a full time job back in Ireland so out this came and off on a trailer to get:

-sill cut out and welded, good as new job, no short cuts.
                          -horn wired in.
                          -New front tyres, yokohama's.
-Full steam clean, wire brush down and underseal.

Poor thing looks pretty sorry for itself:

All going well should have this vrt'd and on the road by the new year. Can't imagine it'll need much for the nct, other than new coilovers, after only doing 400 miles in the last 3 and a half years!!

right so time for an update!

Got back from the garage, with full underseal, new horn, new outer skin for the sill and new yokohama front tyres fitted.

Time to get it ready for nct..

                            New BC Coilovers

                            IMG_5026 by davemx-5, on Flickr

14 inch wheels with fresh tyres and no stretch (which no longer fit now due to the big brake kit, up for sale now;-))

                            20150613_201511 by davemx-5, on Flickr

Got fresh engine oil change, diff oil, gearbox oil, new timing belt, and coolant change. I've no pictures of this unfortunately wanted it done as quick as possible ha ha.

Then started driving it and the rear brakes were smoking after a 20 minute drive, but what do you expect when it's been off the road 4 and a bit years!ha
Put it through the nct like this, and to my surprise all it failed on was sidelights, handbrake, exhaust leak and noise.

So part of my plans for turboing the car I had bought a big brake kit off a mk2.5 s-vt. Got these on along with brand new brake lines all round for the mk2.5 brakes and brand new discs and pads all round.

Got these on and went for a drive and the front right was completely seized, nct retest in 4 days so thought fuck it and bought a refurbished calliper.

This is now the size of the brakes....so worth the extra money. Stops so easy now!

                            IMG_5078 by davemx-5, on Flickr

This is the before, just for comparison!

Then got a silencer welded in, nice and small, still noisey enough thankully!ha

Had to get new clocks as the speedo stopped working.
                              IMG_5059 by davemx-5, on Flickr

Put the car through the nct at this stage. Thankfully passed and been really enjoying driving it now!

I bought a coolant overflow tank, to keep an eye on the coolant level, previous owner had it rerouted into a coke bottle hidden behind the bumper!ha

                              IMG_5201 by davemx-5, on Flickr

Then after seeing all the pictures of the mx5's rolled, and the a pillar's totally collapsing, going around book face recently. I bought a brand new cusco 7 point dash dodger roll cage from rhdjapan. Took a month to come.

I test fitted it and put it together sitting in the car. With the bride seats, they are too wide for it at the back and cant go back far at all. It made the cabin shocking cramped and because I had to sit so far forward it made the top bar really close to my head. So I've put off fitting it until I get some bucket seats, harnesses and floor mount them. Hopefully that should give me a bit of extra space.

                              Immediate plans are :
-I have replacement seals etc for the hardtop coming, get them fitted then get it resprayed along with the bumper , rear bumper and rear number plate panel
                              -Upgrade to an alloy rad
                              -Rota Kyusha 15x9's
                              -slap of the lowering stick
-It's currently getting a new alarm/immobiliser and central locking with a motion and microwave sensor
-Then try make a day in mondello in the next few months
                              -Start collecting turbo parts!
