    Pictures start at post #9

So I sold my daily E30 to my parents. They were sick of the SAAB and wanted a clean 4 door BMW. So I turned over the paper work to them. So my Father knew I was looking for a daily to get my ass around till I finish my E30 build.

He came up with a 1987 635CSi with 168k out of PA. The paint is a little rough and has some fender rust. This is NO MATTER to me at all. I own a complete 84 e24 to give all the parts needed to get this underway.

I wanted some pictures to add but the listing was removed already.

    So here is the good:

Owned by a BMW mechanic that owns his own garage.
    3.46 LSD
    Mint interior
Strong and smooth motor and sport auto tranny
    Everything works mechanically

    Bad:

    Suspension is TOAST
    Needs the low beams fixed
    auto(tranny is perfect)
Fenders need work and rear rocker needs to be cut out and welded new in
    paint is faded
    Drivers axel

    List of planned stuff:

    Bilstein sport shocks and struts
    Custom coilovers(I am building them)
Mount my BBS RC 090 17x8
    5 Spd swap
    Euro bumpers
    OEM wing

    Engine/performance:

    Chip
2.5 straight pipe to glass pack then to a free flow magnaflow

    Paint and body work:

Sandblast rust sections and weld in new
Replace front fenders and cut out the rears and weld in wider custom arches to get more room to stance.
    Matte battleship gray
WWII era pinup girl airbrushed on the front 1/4 of the doors(friend of mine is NUTS at airbrushing)

I know people are going to say I am copying Rusty or some shit... honest to god I am following in the steps of my family and my Uncle's rat rod. I grew up walking hot rod shows and have ALWAYS loved fighter style hot rods. I have been searching for a clean car to do this.

Update: Front suspension is completely done. I honestly was expecting it to be more annoying. I LOVE the bottom three bolts to remove the housing. Wish the E30 did that so it would bypass the control arm/bushings. So after a few hours of replacing and rebuilding the calipers. I am now sitting level and rocking out my Ronal 5 spoke staggered wheels. Threw the POS Enkei RS knock offs in the backyard xD

I took LOTS of pictures and I will have a cable tomorrow. So pictures sometime Sunday fellas!

I know pictures are big here, so again I am sorry for them being this late. Or maybe no one cares about the e24 xD

I, for one, can't wait to see it. You had me from the start just because it's a 635CSi, but when I stumbled onto 'matte battleship gray'.... Damn man, if you can pull off that airbrush also, I will be a jealous man.

That being said, WHERE ARE THE PICTARS!?

I am SOOO sorry fellas, I have been updating on r3vlimited and bimmerforums because r3v is my e30 home and BF is a e24 hotspot. Good thing I checked back =)

                  Worst of the fender rust

                  Black parts car

Garage and lift were full at the time. So the driveway will suffice.

e24s making out Ronal staggered 5 spokes and BBS RC 090 in the foreground. The Ronals are on it right now.

Me working like a BOSS, swapped the suspension from one to the other in 2 hours(Blk2gold/gold2blk). That fender and the passenger side are getting replaced by the black e24s perfect ones.

To answer anyone thinking the Black e24 is better...

The black one is a nightmare, the underside is rusted from sitting in a field in PA. The undercoating was perfect but I guess it got damp on the carpet. Also there is rust that goes almost to the drivers door on the outer skin.

Anyways the gold one runs AMAZING has a 3.46 LSD and only needs a bit of welding and repaint. I have welded in worse with my father on our 76 MB build. Everything in the gold one works 100% and only needs a headlight and the SI board replaced. I am just swapping the mint one from the black one over.

Plus the black one was getting rained on at the time. So it looks pretty

                      Update

I removed the cluster and all signal workings from my parts e24. This ones cluster was not working one bit. It turns out it is a complete rebuild by a BMW cluster Co in Germany! Done a year or so before I bought the car. So now all signals and gauges are 100%!

Then I moved to the engine bay to track down and fix the lite up service bulbs.

Turns out the guy before me was not a very good mechanic...

ICV intake boot was busted in half, valve cover to intake boot hose was completely cut in half with a LARGE bolt JB welded in the end to cap it off. Sensor and a good number of other things were not done correct.

In the end I got rid of the rough idle and the shutter and idle drop when you let off the gas. The M30 idles and runs SMOOTH now =)

Bilstein sports are on the way and found out the 5 spoke Ronals are rare and hard to find. Contacted a few places in Germany and found they are worth 800 as they sit! So I am going to polish the lips and repaint the centers black.

Quick question: Staggered Ronals or BBS RC 090?

Time for an update eh? Bilstein sports came in for the rears today =) on to the pictures...

Stock height with Ronal 5 spokes

Stock springs fitted next to the coilovers. The coilovers are left overs from a past build. They fit SOOOOOO snug, I think a sheet of paper would have a hard time fitting between the shock and sleeve. I took the stock spring perch off and took the c-clip down two notches.

Stock top hat with the stock top hat rubber modded to be flat without the taper for stock springs. Then I cut thick rubber to wedge in the humps to have a clamping effect on the spring hats. It allows the silver tops to stay put when flipped upright.

                        Spring fitted

                        Bilsteins & coilovers assembled

I threw the BBS RC 090 on there just for fun =) Still waiting on my wheel guy to source my missing 4th wheel. So for now I am running BBS RC in the rear and Ronal 5 spokes in the front. Kinda ricer I know xD But do ricers pair two 1k sets of wheels?

It was 10pm when I got done so I went to the car wash to snap a few pictures. I can STILL go down another 3", but I am waiting for the fronts to come in. I dislike suspension rake!
