Read your whole build thread man! Car is really mint! Had a mk2 Jetta back home in South Africa and loved it! Now they are super rare in Australia, haven't seen any to be honest

NICE! Love this thing, everything you do/have done seems to be pretty well thought out.

Downpipe still isn't done (school got into our way a little), BUT...

The transition piece is made
Also while there was no downpipe I wanted to see if I could change some shifter bushing that I didn't do last year. The bolts heads were su rusted they were conical... I got the piece out.

Rebuilt...

Then I aligned the linkage with the aligning tool I had laser-cut, it shifts way better now! It even allowed me to set the shift reduction to 50%. I couldn't do it before because I couldn't find the gates lol.
Also..

First start, not really successful

Wires 3 and 4 were misplaced on the distributor
Second start

That turbo needs a rebuild baaaad. Good thing I got a rebuild kit on hand.
Also, my welder friend promised me he was going to help me on friday for the downpipe, then I rebuild the turbo saturday and sunday I got for a ride

Ok, so I had my piping welded at work. I wanted a shiny brushed finish, so I hit all the pipes with a scotch brite pad, making sure all the grain was perpendicular to the tube. Even in the bends... Hahaha sometimes I wonder why I work slowly.

Then I hit them with polishing compound, and I wrapped them in plastic wrap until they get installed.

Yesterday my friend came over with his MIG, we worked on the downpipe for a bit...

Unfortunately we messed up with one of the angles, had problems with the machine, so at the end of the day we only had this:

Next weekend we can finish.
And tonight I installed some piping, the DV, vacuum lines, etc... Notice the reference port for the wastegate is under the pipe, this way you cannot see it :P

It should run next week... I really hope so...

I just went on their canadian website and ordered it from there. It happened that the canadian distributor is a body shop supply store just here on the south shore of Montreal. So shipping was cheap and fast! If I can make some recommendations for you:Originally posted by 4g63lover View PostThank you. Where did you source it from? Did you buy it online or do hardware stores carry them?
The car is VERY DOPE. Your current turbo project is making me all nostalgic of when I did mine.
1- Buy the starter kit, it gives you the cleaner and the surface preparation solution, plus the paint, a brush and most importantly, gloves.
2- If you buy some more, buy the small cans. They get hard to close right after being opened once, and you need to put a saran wrap under the lid and wrap it in a ziploc bag to prevent it from drying.
3- DON'T GET ANY ON YOUR SKIN
And thanks for saying that its VERY DOPE
I don't know why, I just love saying that.

Car looks dope dude. What did you apply the por-15 with? I'd love to use some for my Galant.

The turbo is now all re-assembled and bolted down! I had to make a custom flange on the inlet to accomodate a silicone coupler.

Then I just plugged everything I could.

The piping is almost done, I just need to have a couple of TIG welds done and I'm good to give it a test start!

Here's my solution to my oilpan fittings problem: -10 JIC fitting welded right to the pan.

I bolted that manifold for good with copper nuts

Then I installed my Ford/Bosch 440 cc/min injectors

I finished the gauge pod, but it was full of cracks, so I'm redoing it as we speak.

Then I temporarly put the turbo on the car to make the oil lines

I also worked a bit more on the intercooler piping.

The piping arrives where the charcoal canister once was

Other side is a bit tight on the crossmember though

Very good fitment with my bumper!
