  • 2002 Passat Variant | Built in Ireland

    Hi all,

A few years back I had a 2001 passat saloon with the cheapest specs possible. I liked it tough and I knew that I will stick with the passat but I want better specs and variant for sure.
After a while I have found this one - here is how I bought it.

Some photographs from the previous owner:

    Main specs:

    2002 VW Passat B5.5
    Engine: 1.9 TDI AVF
    Transmission: Manual 6 gears
    Colour: LC7V

Wheels: 16x7 inch et37 Road America alloys
    Tyres: Good Year Excellence 205/55/16

    Exterior:

    Genuine Bi-Xenon headlights + washers

    Interior:

    Black/Grey inside
    Leather/Alcantara seats - front heated.
    Climatronic
Genuine Blaupunkt cassette player + 6cd changer
    Multifunctional Steering wheel
    Cruise control

    Plans:

    New alloys 18's + tyres
    Coilovers /done/
    Tinting windows
    USA bumper markers
    Debaged grill /done/
    Genuine fog lights /in progress/
    Brakes upgrade to 312mm
    Interior light from W8 /done/
Glasses holder instead of the holder /done/
    2din DVD
    New genuine gear knob /done/
    Rear wiper AERO /done/
    Turbo BRD /in progress/
    FMIC /in progress/
    Remap
    Sound proofing /done/
    Replacing genuine bulbs to LED
    German style plates /done/
Colour coding all covers under the bonnet

    Thanks for checking out

    Updates:

    W8 interior light:

    Fitted:

As my right rear lamp looked like this:

I had to replaced - due to a decent price I have bought a pair:

I have bought spare lights from another passat along with a steel frame that holds them:

They're fitted now in the booth:

Cables you see in the booth are for rear bumper markers

    Other things I have done:

    - Replaced bar under the rear bumper for the one without a hook.
    - Removed badges from the back

But... It can't be so sweet. While putting the cables I have found that the floor under carpet is a bit wet.
So I have removed everything from the inside:

As the carpet is out I have ordered sound deadening pads:

and started looking where is the weather coming from.
I sealed pollen filter and the computer area under the bonnet and started fitting mats and checking the doors.

      - I have found that the water was coming through the right front and rear doors.
There was plenty pieces of broken glass inside the front doors. They were blocking the bottom holes and the water was looking for the other way out.
All the rubbish has been removed, doors cleaned and sound deadening mats fitted.
A bit of a silicon around to prevent from licks in the future.

      Floor progress:

While in progress I have decided to go a bit further and remove the dashboard to fix strange noises etc.
It looked like that for a while:

I have used a tape shown below around the front of the dashboard:

After the dashboard had been refitted, sound proofing mats found their place on the floor and the boot also:

      After that a new felt:

At this moment everything is back on.

        Another update:

        Switch for the bumper markers:

        New genuine gear knob:

        New rear wiper AERO:

And something I was waiting a while for:

Refurbished KKK turbocharger from Audi A4 170BHP:

        And Toyo Sports FMIC:

        Pipes and silicons:

Waiting for a few other gifts and will start fitting it...

In the mean time coilovers fitted:

Hope you like what you see... Thanks for checking

probably because 'kkk' is also the name of a white supremesist group in the states. kkk are good turbos though, so he likely wasn't laughing at your turbo. im pretty sure there is no affiliation between the group and the manufacturerer

I love how thorough you are with going through any problems you're having, you're a brave man pulling out the dash, no way I'd like to do that job! I had a 2004 saloon one of these about a year ago and while it was a great car I wished it was the estate version.
Looking forward to seeing your updates on this.
