  • 2009 Yaris Hatchback (The wifes build project)

We picked up the Yaris for my wife so we could have something sensible and reasonable to drive around that got great gas mileage and has 4 doors. That was the thought at first, then we got it and that all went out the window. Ha.

When we picked it up in all its stock goodness.

    And 4x4

Hardly 2 weeks later the car was lowered on springs

Then upgraded the stereo. Here is the wife doing some glass inside the box.

And what we ended up with

Picked up her first set of wheels for this car. 16x7+38 MB Weapons in Bronze

Here she is with tint and test fitting the body kit bits. C-one Wing, INGS sides and rear.

The wife ordered some D2 coil-overs. Got them installed and wound them all the way down in the back and low in the front just for fun.

Back up the coilovers went to something we can drive on, added a CF hood and HD lip.

Picked up the car from the body shop after getting the body kit put on and some damage from an accident fixed. 23 hours after picking the car up, this happens.

    Test fitting her new wheels. XXR 002 in Polished/Silver (16x8+0 R, 16x7+42 F)
No camber or pull at this point. Oh and new LED tail lights also.

Here is 3 degree camber shims in and still no pull.

(yes that door is a different color, crappy paint work, getting fixed as we speak along with the new rear bumper)

And here the car is a little lower with the first step of the pull. There is another step to hopefully make it ½” wider on both sides using factory metal and not needing a respray.

Let her know what you think.

The car is coming along nicely. The mismatching wheels look a bit funky though. I think it'd look pretty sick slammed on some 13's or 14's.

Thanks guys. I'll tell her to get on here and check this out.

The wheels are the same size and model, but if we did 16x8+0 in the front it would have been like 3" of poke and thats just too much. Not going for Mexi-flush. Ha. But will be putting some 10-15mm spacers and a little bit of camber in the front and finish rolling the fenders to get a little more of an aggressive fit on the front.

The drivers rear door was the only panel on that side NOT painted. Thats why it is so drastically different. The original bodyshop did a HORRIBLE job at painting it. So needless to say, when it goes in for the rear bumper to get put on and painted that side of the car is being resprayed also. From a different shop.

Keep the comments coming guys. I know she appreciates the love. Its a looked over car alot yes. But there are several nice ones out there, and fewer stanced ones.

While I commend your wife's desire for modding as it's a rather rare quality among women I have to admit Im not a fan of a few of those choices. But again it is supremely cool that shes into modding her own car

the front doesnt seem to flow with the kit. are you going to change it? IDK its tricky and could become ricey real quick. but good start.
