  • My Shakotan 85 RX7 Build

A few months back i bought a RX7 from a friend. Someone was test driving it and got in a accident. My friend didn't want it and he needed it off of his property because he was moving so i bought it for $500. with plans of swapping the drivetrain in my 75 corolla wagon. but after i got the car home i couldn't bring myself to part it out.

Before the accident the car was mint, and its a rare GSL_SE model which came with a fuel injected 13b, upgraded suspension, LSD, 4 wheel disc brakes, and the most important part... it didnt have that lame mazda bolt pattern, its 4x114.3.

Other then the Eibach lowering springs, Pace setter Headers, and Crager wheels, it was all original.

So this is how i got it

    good side

    aww damn.

so it sat for a few months and i planned.

I picked up a fender, Turbo II turbo manifold and turbo for $100

I also picked up a Turbo II intake manifold and a FD upper intake manifold and throttle body.

Then after some nice tugs with a chain and my truck i got the front end somewhat back in place but it wasn't perfect.

I took it to my shop, replaced the master and slave cylinder (which went bad), fixed the headlight, fit the new fender, built my self a set of shortened front struts and coilovers, cut the rear springs, threw on my 15x8 +15 XXRs, rolled the fenders and this was the result.

    During the process

If you want to live up to the shakotan title, you should really be looking for a set of 14"s, maybe 15"s....

Looks good so far, just needs some classic Jap wheels to set it off truly.

shakotan is one of my fav old skool jap styles, so i'll be keen to see what comes of this

i agree that it needs old skool jap 14s or 15s

have you thought about getting one of those old skool under car spoilers?
