I pulled the carpet and found an insane amount of rust. So I'm kind of "ugh"ing at the moment.

I mean "Oh, hey, what's up road?" type of rust. If I want to fix it truly the right way I'm gonna need a donor car to cut some parts out of.

Sorry to hear about the newly discovered rust issues, one of the unfortunate risks of E28 ownership. I hope you choose to keep the car and repair it properly. I have seen too many E28s either scrapped or turned into beaters because of rust issues.

I'd be more than willing to donate a floorpan from one of my parts cars to keep a euro alive. The distance may be a little far though.
