  • Mercedes C280

Been on here a while but not posted a build thread yet.
My car is a Mercedes C280 V6. C43 AMG bodykit and alloys. Electric + heated leather. Electric rear widow blind.

    Here's a few pics.

    New alloys came last week.

    New tyres.

    Needs to go lower now.

          C36s are i6s.

43s are ridiculously more baller and came with a 4.3L v8
It was a rare and very bad ass car.

The earlier engine is a straight six, the later versions are V's. The earlier is the same engine as a C36 but obviously only a 2.8.
These are practically the same engine as the C43 except a V6.
C43's are quite common here in the UK. Always a few on eBay. Not got the money for one yet though.

Been a long long time since I've updated but I've not really made any changes. Had my wheels polished but didn't want to risk my wheels due to the type and condition of the road I was on. They've been on a while now so thought I would post some updated pics up.
Definitely needs to be lower on front and rear and got some spacers being made at the mo for the rear. Hopefully be sitting better very soon.

Lower is ALWAYS good but I think it sits nice as is! Subtle and functional. Now lower it. hahaha

The m112 v6 in your c280 is more like the m112 v6 from the w210 e320 or W203 C240's ,etc..... it is not practically the same as a M113 V8 from the 43. And Yes the M104 from the C280 is similar to the M104 from a c36 but they arent exactly "the same" engine. I own a M104 inline 6 C280 as well as a C43

Yes ! exactly lower is ALWAYS better but at what expense ? these cars dont have much after market support the only way youre going to get low is cutting the springs. or spending for air ride. That or you can leave it as a functional yet elegant, simple, clean luxury car that it is.

Regardless of any of this, those mandrus wheels polished up nicely ! holy crap. they turned out really nice !

Thanks for the positive input. Agreed, it is practical at the moment, I hold my breath over most of the speed bumps on my way to work as it is now and I think any lower and I will need a new route but I think the pictures do make it look better than I see it. You can see better in these pics how it sits.

The rears definitely need to come out a bit and the arch gap is not looking great either but that will mean cutting more coils or acquiring some money from somewhere for air suspension but I think the car isn't really worth enough to justify air. Definitely be getting some form of V8 Merc as my next. Possibly a 202 or maybe a 208 55 as they seem to be cheaper than C43's over here in the Uk. Then that will be the time for an air setup.

Just cut the coils. The beauty of Mercs is the coil springs not being affected by cutting, hell I don't even have spring pads on mine and it rides like a cloud.

Oh and at first I wasn't really digging the mandrus wheels, but once you polished them it really set them off.

Yeh I've always run cut coils. Only end up cutting coils if I bought aftermarket springs anyway.
The only reason I got them polished is because I could get it done cheaper than getting them refurbished but I'm pleased with the results.
