  • BMP MkV GTI

This is my dad's first of all. He's 59

Cas still has <40k kms but has seen highway useage (stone chips )
Had a 9 month wait, it got delivered Dec 31 2005.

Car stayed standard for quite a while, only thing to note was a dyno dynamics dyno of 123 fwkw.

So on Friday, John decided to get rubber on his wheels. In the interest of load ratings/speed ratings he decided to go with 235/35 as the 225/35s are only an 88Y. Rubber choice ended up being Toyo Proxes 4.

Needless to say he is quite happy.

Also on order from Rennenhaus is the Forge Twintake

Took a few quick photoos on the day, car is filthy and shots uninspiring but here they are:

So today I put the recently acquired FORGE TWINTAKE on for John. The car pulls harder, and makes some lovely noises. Quite expensive, but certainly in combination with a tune later on, a beneficial product.

Big shout to Ian @ Rennenhaus for the swift delivery (and taking some monies). You know what it looks like, but here's a few quick shots:

            KW V3's are installed.

Pretty easy affair, only real trouble being drivers side front tie rod end having a mushroomed/bellowed thread (off the taper-lock) which meant we had to unscrew the tie rod end off the steering arm to drop it out. Pretty relaxing Sunday effort installing coilovers into a Golf.

Had Front dampers set at 8 from closed (hardest)
Had Rear Dampers set at 10 from hardest.

Initial reports are that it sits nice straight up, will see if they settle more, but more likely to recieve a bit more of a drop.
Ride quality is awesome, did not feel stiff/over dampened and therefore felt fairly smooth with good transition of dynamic.
Power down is much better. This 05 always felt "tight" but the addition of the Twintake and the KW's has made the car feel far more eager to play ball.
Steering feels is spot on with the current set-up.

Only a prelim report but very very good product.
            Photos probably next weekend....

Car then went to a dyno day on a Mainline Dyno and pulled 132 fwkw (only addition being the twintake).
In the coming months it will get a Milltek TBE and most likely GIAC tune for more fun

The car is that compliant on the V3's its so comfortable but hangs on so much better. Im sure with the addition of sways, some poly bushes (its prob the oldest GTI on here??) and firm up the dampening on the front it would be a weapon.

Had another play with his coils today and firmed the front up a bit. The front left is about 2mm higher than the right so need to fix that + do the fender screw but other than that it looks a fair bit more complete now.

It's weird, the wheel fitment looks terrible in the photos but it's pretty darn spot on in the flesh. Ahs well. He has done well

Got out with the camera tonight and had a bit of a play, this is the best I got
