  • Static Mk3 VR6

    Hi all,

Only recently joined the board. Here is the first car of 3 to get a few modifications....

I was on the lookout for a 4x4 that really sounded good and went well with a limited budget. This litle beauty popped up in Newcastle and I snapped it up for $6000.

Had 178XXX kms, steering wheel neeeded TLC, interior plastic was good, seats are probably 85% condition, paint/body work needs attention imo, mechanicals are good.

I then got probably my favourite/most anticipated thing for the car. An exhaust.

    I went with:

    - 2 1/4" Mild Steel piping.
    - Resonator
    - Magnaflow muffler.

Now for some moar low. A group of about 4 mates, installed JOM coilovers into the little Mk3. I also didn't know how "low" it was going to be, so we took precautionary measures by using pavers. I'll let you be the judge

      H&R Camber bolts were ordered.

Note: I recommend you get replacement Strut mount rubbers and bearings and install at the same time. Saves you pulling them out again, unless you want the practise.

Then came the black wheels, just for a cheap, different look and to help clean up the wheel presentation. Bridgestone Adrenalin RE001's were fitted, 205/50/15. Really really nice tyre!

Have EBC Greenstuff pads waiting to go on the 280mm rotors as soon as the pads I have wear down....

As the beast sits now (has been raised to a much more suitable height)

I am quite happy with how much better the car presents but there is still plenty to do. Switching between mods and maintenance is a good balance to have. Keeps things interesting

Just really want these to go on now!!

15x7 ET23 front and 16x7 ET23 rear BBS/Mahle wheels. A friend of VWW showed them to me and I had to have them for obvious reasons. Love the centre caps. I hope it's not too much, but I will cop a little bit of poke with this set-up, which I am not worried about.....

            Dummy fitment without the adapters:

Ok so test fit of the wheels, few things to fix up to make it all mickey mouse, (apart from put rubber on). Excuse the filthy car, been out of town all weekend and moto riding etc.

H&R adapters 15mm front and 20mm rear. (Had to have the front bolts to the hub machined because they aren't cavity backed wheels.

              Final offsets are +8 and +3 (only on a 7" though )

Bought some daily Audi TT 17x7.5s...don't have any decent pics of these...

Had a few major servicing things to go through in between which held up progress.

Had to get Mk4 GTI brakes (288mm) as I didnt have caliper clearance at the front. You'll see the clearance I have now in the coming pictures, still pretty tight. Painted the new brakes silver

Here's some pictures, sorry about the below average quality, they were really quick!!!

-Moar lows. It didn't come down evenly will need another dig tomorrow. But looking better every time. (Not to blow my own horn though!) Will get a good suspension checking over and another alignment done on Friday.

Yee all like pickshers, been learning. These were very quick but hopefully a couple of different "feels" to them.

                        Brake Clearance...

That's pretty much as it sits now.
Got a "wrong fitment crew" and some pedo bear stickers just for some more fun but haven't touched htis in a while.

Apologies for throwing the build straight away, was plenty copied from elsewhere but I edited out the boring bits (smashed sumps, water pump, bushes etc)...

                            Hope yee all like

                              From the intro thread...

Plans for the 94....still undecided with it atm. I'm loaning it to my sister for a while while she starts off at uni (it'll be on TT's not my BBS!) so have a while to think.

Really did want to GT35R + airride + work meister 17x9 but buy the time that happens it wont be bale to be driven much round here. Cops are pretty ruthless

Probably still go the airride, keep the wheel choice open and go throttles + 288s + quicker r&p or 6sp conv.
