  • Bonita J's E36 Build

A little background on the car; bought it back in September of 2010 after my boyfriend wrecked his MKV. It was out of necessity as we had a project 16v MK2 that needed a significant amount more work done to it to make it road worthy. We were searching for a few weeks for a budget MK3 GTI or Jetta but all of them trashed in some way, one of which literally was welded and bondo-ed together and was falling apart when we saw it! After weeks of frustrating searches and not having a car my boyfriend had a great idea, why not looking into BMWs? He had one, and said they're bulletproof. We began to look for those, but like the MK3s, it was upset after upset. That is, until we found the gem that we ended up buying.

My E36 was higher mileage then most of the ones we had seen and was a bit out of our price range. After we saw it for the first time, we had to have it!

    1998 BMW 328i
    183k miles
Ascot Green with a semi recent respray
    OEM M3 Body Parts
    OEM BMW Lightweight wheels
Lowered on Koni Adjustable Shocks and Eibach Sport Springs
And had a custom Magnaflow exhaust

The car was amazing, the drive home was a breeze. We felt like we were cheating on buying a car that was already built. I still have an itch to go lower and to fill my fenders out better. After hours of research on different BMW forums the Elitist gave me the motivation to blatantly say "Fuck You" to their douchebaggery. I plan to have this car showing at Wuste2011 this year, and hopefully it will reflect the time we will be putting into in the next 5 months!

    Plans;
Airride - Already have a quote, currently saving for!
    Wheels - Purchased: 18x8 ET44 & 18x9 ET46 Rays Vesta Sebrings in 5x114.3

Adapters - looking in to getting 26mm adapters for the rear not sure about the front yet
Interior - Trying to keep with the tan, classy but aggressive is what I am going for
Body - Subtle mods as the M treatment is already beautiful by itself

    Currently my car looks like:

    I want it sitting like:

Let me know what you guys think, I am going to have some serious fun modding this with the help of my boyfriend and a few close friends!

Where i live its not practical to be static, reason being our roads are FUCKED up everyday its a new pot hole, sink hole, or something. For the longest time i was all about being static, till i realized being on air is going to save my ass when i need it most lol

static on 17s at that height, you should have no problem getting around. Just get some Stanceworks coilovers and be done with it. Those wheels and the PS-ed height look great. Dont spend all that time and $ on air when your not looking to go super low... I think you will really enjoy the coils

thanks for the suggestion, but no. lol! like i said previously i cant be static where i live. id be crackin pans all day! haha
plus my goal is to lay frame, the picture above was photoshopped so its like a super rough idea as to how low i want to be. plus the kit i plan on getting is still waaay cheaper than the coilovers.

                          18x8 ET13
                          18x9 ET18

Test fit with fat tires, already acquired 215/40's waiting til on my next check to get the 205/40's for the front.

We're working on the low soon!

Its an e36, I really don't think you have to be worrying about cracking pans.

EDIT: also If you plan on laying frame it might be in your best interest to go with a 35 series tire on 18s
