And now, the moment that some of you (mostly just Vegas and Oxer) have been waiting for!

        Weld porn!

Tom and Craig have both been working hard on the exhaust for the SL500. Since Craig's currently on vacation in Mexico, Tom's been putting all his time and effort into making this exhaust a continuation of Fluid's promise to continue cranking out beautiful metalwork that sounds even better than it looks.

In terms of sound, we haven't started it up yet, but we want to soon. Judging by how our previous Merc exhausts have turned out, we're getting antsy over here to hear that aggressive growl upon startup.

Since we're not going for expressly overt loudness with this build, we added two Vibrant resonators to the midsection. We're currently waiting on the muffler to arrive that's going to be built into the tailpipe section, so we can't blaze through to the finish just yet, but here's shots of what we've got so far:

Tom can. It's terrifying, but after a week of working with Craig, Tom started pumping out welds like this...quickly. And he hasn't stopped. He could put together a battleship by hand if he had to, we're pretty sure.

Once we can talk you down to just shelter, we'll consider it.

The following is an announcement for everybody that's interested in the work we've been doing on the SL's control arms!

After doing some research with part numbers, it turns out that the control arms (both front and rear) that M-B use for the SL are the exact same control arms that they use for a wide variety of vehicles.

The front control arms are the same as the 88-93 190E, 94-98 SL500, 94 E500, and a few more models.

The rear control arms are the same as a whole shitload of M-B models, including the 86-87 190E, 95-97 C36 AMG, 01-04 SLK320, 03-05 CLK500, 94-02 E320, 05-10 SLK55 AMG, 94-02 SL600, and a lot more models (that are similar to the ones I already mentioned).

What this means is that there's a fourth potential option to adjusting the ride height on these vehicles. The first, coilovers, can be prohibitively expensive on some models, and nonexistent on others. The second, lowering springs, are still viable, but their total drop height usually leaves much to the imagination. The third, cutting springs, isn't something we like to do. This leaves full-on suspension modification, and now that we've got the technique down, if you'd like to do something similar with a similar model of Mercedes, shoot me an e-mail and I'll see what I can do.
