                    • Spider Hits The Streets!!

So this was the night I have waited for all these years - an initial shakedown.
With a balmy 29 degrees, I headed out for the first time in full riot gear.

The Spider just PULLS. I mean...it....just...PULLS!!! Now I know what Johnny has been saying all these years on his 3.7. Yet I never even made it out of third. Even still, I never had the throttle deeper than 20%..in third and this thing was simply ROARING!!

                      Here's a very brief review:

Remote shifter - Crisp and short - It WANTS to be slammed!!

Clutch - Firm, but what a solid feel!

Steering - Tight, but could be quicker - Will look into Alfaholics steering arms and Geo kit

Brakes - Need to be bedded but were firm, good feedback and very easy to modulate considering they have no assist

Trans - Very quiet - no grinding and compliments the remote - good pairing, super tall gears!

Front Suspension - Firm - Never bottomed out and went through some really bumpy sections. Obviously I will still have to be mindful of the front splitter. But that added height REALLY paid off.

Rear Suspension - Need more damping range - re-valve or another brand as collars are all the way down

                      Ok, back to the drive..

Then this black S2K pulls up alongside me and this guy has the biggest grin on his face, giving me the thumbs up. I don't even know how, but I think his grin was even bigger than mine!!

                      This was him -

                      This was me -

                      See?

Not too long after that, I noticed that the water temp was just starting to creep past 220. So being on the safe side, I pulled her over on a side street and shut her down. I had a feeling that the coolant level might be low, so I let her sit for a bit and see what happens. At the very least, this would be a good time to check any heat soak issues on the starter to see if it would re-fire. No problem. Started right up.

Across the street was an all night plaza with a Subway sandwich shop in it. So I thought a few bags of ice would help her out. 4 bags and 20 minutes later, the temp was at 150, so I headed back.

But before I did, I took this parting shot - a sort of trophy shot if you will, of this very special night! Overheating or not..I'm glad I've finally made it to this stage. It's what I've been dreaming of and working relentlessly for all these years.

                      • Spider Returns From Rioting In The Streets!!

I arrived back at the dyno shop and brought Tony up to speed on the cooling. I was right. Fluid was down so Tony topped it off and bled the system. We let her idle for quite some time and held revs to check the temp. All evened out around a solid 210.

You can also see the new front end treatment with the charcoal center piece and silver insert in the grille. That same color insert concept then extends onto the interior medial edges of the bumper as well. It's just a little difficult to make out with the shop's lighting. Now the focus is on the heart as opposed to the central rad treatment. Much cleaner and visually simplified.

I left the Spider with Tony for the night so he could go over it again. After that, further testing will resume.

I have one more dyno vid cooking now and will post that up when ready. This is, "THE ONE"!!!
