  • Help me get my 2003 Kia Rio Cinco look good..(hoping it has a chance)

    Hi Guys.

I don't know where to put this thread but as long as it would be on the "Builds" column...hope I'm on the right one.

Anyway..I'm just new here and my dad just bought a new car and gave me his older one.

2003 Kia Rio Cinco (Hutchback). It's color is gold.. and I want to make it look good somehow (if there's a chance..)

I'm not a grease monkey or a car geeky dude so I planned to go here and maybe could use some of your advices on how i should work my car.

1st off is the rims. I've been thinking if I should get me some 17" Volk/Rays Te37 Bronze (Copy) which they have here in the P.I. and could be on 4 nuts to fit on my car.

2nd would be adding a ducktail at the back. (?)

3rd would be adding hood scoop. (?)

4th is to make it lower.

I have a rush edited pic below to somehow let you see the Rims on my car.

Hope you could help me. Thanks and Godbless.

bonnet scoop first, every one knows this... theres a forum called scoopworks.com dedicated to bonnets and different kinds of scoops, dont put a ducktail on it though, i dunno about wildlife laws and stuff like that where you are but could be charged with animal cruelty maybe? something about about your pic too, just dosnt look right, maybe try it with a set of 4 stud rims, the extra stud doesnt look right, oh and dont bother lowering it... i knew this chick once called stacey, she was really hot and i wanted to bang her like a barn door in a hurricane but she assumed i was homosexual because i had lowered my car and hung around guys who had lowered cars too so she just figured we were a circuit party club or something

Ill go with hypercrush and give you some serious advice.

You have to work out if this car is actually worth spending money on. I have never looked into it but I would almost bet my left nut that there isnt a huge aftermarket base for Kia modifications in general. You will struggle to find a lot of parts that you will need and generally the harder they are to come by, the more expensive they are.

You have your list out of order, as said, lowering should be the first thing on the list. the duck bill is more of a personal prefference but the bonnet scoop is a deffinate no-no. Its not a wrx, and it doesnt have a top mount cooler, so there is no need for it. If you want that for looks, then this forum probably isnt really where you want to be posting a build thread, as the majority of people like clean body work, subtle changes and class. a bonnet scoop is the complete opposite of that.

The wheels, If you like the style of the TE37, I would suggest you try your hardest to find a second hand genuine set, rather then buy a set of copies. Anyone can go out and buy a set of replica wheels from a local store, but it takes someone with dedication to buy a genuine set and put effort into them to bring them back to their prime.

                Just take that into consideration

Ya, I read Oxer's serious post and I'm sorry for being a dick.

I just finished a quick Google and there isn't much for a Rio. You're looking at spending a few thousand to get a slammed car running Volks. That's before any other mods. My point is to drive the Rio for a little while, baby it, keep the fluids topped up, keep your receipts. Meanwhile, SAVE your money and look at all the build threads on here and on other sites. See what you like. Find something you actually want, sell the stock Rio to a single mom and take the money + your savings to buy it.

In my opinion, the Civic is the same thing. A car that everyone was given by their moms and they all wanted to have racecars, so companies designed parts for them. It's not that much more to get a solid platform and have less that will need changing to make a racecar(ish).

No disrespect for Civics. (except for the FWD ones)
