  • Single Slammin from the Northwest

well hello folks. Im new to stanceworks and figured i start a build thread for my 1990 240SX.
so lets get started. Well before this i had a 2002 WRX that i built with help from my friend Jeff Perrin of Perrin Performance.
    started stock

then within a few months we began slowly modding it piece by piece. sorry i dont have pics of it in process. but all in all when i finished it looked like this

    2.0l VF48 turbo from 2008 STI
    perrin downpipe
perrin discontinued dual tip exhaust(also had one off striaght pipe from jeff)
    perrin FMIC (one off white)
    perrin crank pulley
    perrin inlet tube
    perrin intake
    perrin EBCS
    perrin swaybar kit
perrin strut bar( one off white)
    H&R coilovers
    perrin radiator panel(one off white)
custom tune by Jeff 328HP 312Torque
also we made a RWD conversion for it but never installed.

ok so that was then. well i got to many tickets and my insurance was way to much for me to afford so i figured id sell it and start a new project. something that im familiar with. i started looking at S13's. it would be my fifth one so i wanted something i would be happy with cause it will probably be my last.
i ended up buying this 1990 SE for CHEAP. 120,000 original miles almost perfect conditon just some minor body damage i plan on fixing.

    looks pretty good id say.

so that was when i got it about 5 months ago it has changed alittle since then i just need to make the time to take pictures to show the progress.

    but it has
    2.4l single cam
    5 speed
    sparco bucket seat
    sparco 3inch harness
apexi ni cat back. came on car. i **** it so if you want to buy it PM me.
    custom shift tall shift knob(weighted)
deep dish steering wheel i had laying around. (no name)
    Powered by Max coilovers
    yamato garage RUCA's
    tanabe rear strut bar
    Welded diff

    future plans are

    im buying RPF-1's from a friend 17x9 +22.
    5 lug
all Powered by Max suspension arms
    so still undecided if i want to do N/A 2JZ with ITB's or do a 1UZ 4cam V8.
    full cage
repaint it 04 STI black with added gold flake
    origin stylish bodykit
thats about all i have planned for now.

This is going to be my weekend warrior so i hope you enjoy and please give feed back and any advice you have to offer.

got a question... why do most 240 owners put bucket seats and race harnesses and gut there car when the motors are usually stock single cams? not bustin on you but i see alot on craigslist and never understand it. by the way, 1uz would be O.G.

seat and harness really helps i noticed a good change in my driving after i got it. (plus they were very very cheap so had to snag them). you dont need a SR20DET to drift. ive had that and ive had a RB25DET. i like the single cam for now it's reliable and can still get me sideways when i want. plus there cheap as shit if i blow it up before my big plans start to take place.

I have no experience whatsoever with s13's, but I've heard that they tend to understeer unless corrected somehow. If that's an issue, would a heavy engine make that worse? I guess as a followup, how heavy is a 1UZ compared to a 2JZ?

Either way, ITB's always win for me so I'd say go with the 2JZ. And I bet it will look great on rpf-1's.

yeah you know what honestly i never thought of that. me and my buddy were just throwing around ideas of what motor to use. he works a shop that does alot of LS1 swaps and there pretty spendy so i was thinking of other V8's and ive seen 1UZ done before on a drift car, i just dont know exactly how it would handle. either way i have a chance to pick up whatever motor i want really cheap. kinda leaning towards 2J. never seen a N/A 2J ITB in a S13

Yeah I plan on making the wheels flush and the car low as possible. With the subie I really didn't care about fitment it was a fast car that I used to race. It wasn't important to me then.
