Custom short runner plenum parts came in for fabricating
end caps
Shortened the drive shaft
machined an insert for strength
from the factory the R32 wheelbase is approximately 5 inches wider.
The complete R32 rear suspension and axles has been narrowed to be exactly the same width as the mk1 rabbit to fit the body. (picture above shortened)
rear end in place with the r32 floor bolted to the r32 subframe

Updates!
Rabbit is starting to look more like a car everyday. Rear drive train located and mocked in place today and raised to check for clearance issues, measuring, measuring and more measuring and planning.
using the rear support brace we welded in place to keep the body straight, we squared up the rear suspension assembly and welded the square tubing to the sub-frame to hold the assembly in place.
we also finished shortening the drive-shaft and welded it up bolted it to the rear differential
Shot looks like the complete rear end is floating
shot from the passenger seat looking back
shot of the rear end from the outside. you can see where we have the trailing arms\spindle assembly mocked in place. Its home will be bolted to the R32 floor pan just like it did from the factory as well. This complete rear assembly will be removable and servicable
