  • Saab 9000 Aero sloww build.

    When I got it:

T5suite "stage 1" tune, cheapo boost gauge, debadged, smoked side markers, replaced peeled emblems, cleaned:

Some shiny pictures, not bad for 240k...

Euro plate, traded original wheels for older Aero wheels with tires that don't feel like impending doom if it's a bit damp outside:

    Annnnd now:

    The goal:

    Definite plans for the winter:
Front valence is getting a crack fixed, I plan to take the "grille" bit out of it.
Spoiler is getting a crack fixed and repainted.
    Grille getting fixed and painted
Hood is either getting fixed or replaced with a used one or something.
3" turbo-back exhaust, new tune, T7 boost control.
    The wheels are getting refinished.

    Things I'm thinking about
Black suede on the headliner, pillars, and dash (with painting the beige plastic bits)
    Tint
    E-code corner lights and headlights

Not sure what I want to do as far as wheels right now. I want something 17x8 but 4x108 with a 65.1mm hub bore is kinda limiting. I have a few things in mind (ebay knockoffs that might look okay... might...) but I'm not sure yet. Budget is really the biggest limiting factor on wheels. I might end up just getting some spacers and running with it.

Oh yeah, I don't want to be extremely low. Which is good because the biggest aftermarket drop I've found for a 9000 is 35mm. A few people are coming up with DIY coilovers, but I think I'll wait and see how they turn out.

I'll use this to document my actual progress as well as probably lots of photoshopped wheel ideas...

Hope I haven't bored you TOO much...

Duuuude you're on here now too? Awesome, good luck with the projects. Those wheels in your photoshop are pretty cool. Should be able to find more wheels that fit just by getting adapters and hubcentric rings.

Long time listener, first time caller.

I have pretty much come to the conclusion that adapters are pretty much the only way to get anywhere. I looked into getting the Aeros widened, but for the amount of money that would be I could pretty much buy the Futura's and adapters lol.

Looking through pages of 17x8's on Ebay for ideas/inspiration... might spend a little quality time with Photoshop later...

I wish anybody knew who those cars belong to. And that somebody in that mix could speak English. Would really like to know what they have for suspension.

FWIW, I never really was a fan of how these cars look either. They grow on you, though.
