I spent a couple of hours at the weekend trying to get my UUC clutch pedal bushes fitted. Pretty easy task for the most of it.

Take the bottom of the dashboard off (just 3 screws):

Unclip and remove the return spring, then the master cylinder - to slide the pin out you have to bend this bracket, very easy with a screwdriver.

Then unclip the pivot point and hey presto, a clutch pedal! You can then pull out the old bushes, which practically fall out.

Next up, fitting the UUC bits, which just push in, although fit a lot more snugly than the old bits!

This was as far as I got really, from here on it's just a case of refitting the clutch pedal. Unfortunately though, despite quite a while trying, I couldn't get the pedal to slide back on! Has anyone else had this problem?

So I had to put the old ones back in waste of time! I'm not too sad though, because a new toy turned up yesterday!

    Haha, I'll keep them thanks

No update, just a couple of pics!

One I've dug out from Bimmerflex retro a few weeks ago.

    And Rich's from DC:

Bit of an update. In that these now work! Well, apart from the oil pressure, but that will be sorted soon.

This was all thanks to Blair and Craig at Dynotorque. I was up there the other day and so it seemed like a good time to take advantage of their expertise.

Blair spent most of the day going through my car tidying up various bits and telling me off for a few dodgy short-term bodges I'd done that had become long-term! All sorted now though

My airlines were protected from the heat of the sump and also spaced out from the cross brace to stop rattling and damage to the T-piece.

Blair, as mentioned, also sorted my gauges for me!

The oil temp is fed by a sensor fitted in place of the sump plug, voltage now works and Blair also ran a length of wiring to the front of the engine bay ready for when I get a pressure sender all sorted. All of the wiring was wrapped and really neat, and the gauge works perfectly

Blair also sorted out this mess:

By securing the compressor and also tidying up and fixing all of the wiring for me!

Much better absolutely chuffed to bits with the work the guys have done, would highly recommend them to anyone. The only complaint is that I left really wanting much more power and/or an American V8.

Finally, these turned up yesterday - after seeing how well the chrome rings fitted with the carbon surround in Ben Lee's E46 I decided I'd do the same. No chrome is going near my car mind you, so these are currently drying at home with a nice coat of black on them

I was tempted to go yellow and get rid of my HIDs, but I'm really happy with the way it looks as it is now. Saw your build thread, looks fantastic.

    This weekend was interesting.

Saturday I went to collect my brother from Oxford (a two hundred and something mile round trip). Before I left I thought I'd take a photo of the mileage

My car had 84k on it when I got it nearly 2 years ago. Scary! I also managed to get well and truly stuck on my nan's drive.

Managed to get it off in the end by jacking it up, piling stones under the tyres and laying carpet under too.

Sunday was better, I managed to get the use of a press for a while and so got a couple of troublesome bushes out from my M3 axle and also fitted my Powerflex ARB droplink bushes - the old ones were knackered and causing my handling to feel a little wayward.

    All done!

    And fitted:

Handling feels so much better now, I'd highly recommend the Poweflex bushes. They were very easy to fit too, once the old ones were out!

    Another busy weekend

On Saturday I decided not to go to the Ace and instead serviced the Touring - it was due one and as the weather was rather lovely, I figured why not - it's also nice to do things at the same time, so that along with my newly cleaned air filter it now has fresh oil and a new oil filter, along with the usual little bits like a new sump plug washer and oil filter housing o-ring. I also reset my service light.

I also had a nice big box of bits arrive from BMW, which included new arch liners, bumper corner supports, foglight blanks, topmount covers and various clips and screws - I didn't have time to do everything.

    Before:

    After:

Also, my neighbour was kind enough to give me a pair of 15mm spacers he had left over, as he changed his wheels recently. So I chucked these on the front along with the longer wheel bolts he also gave me. I wasn't sure they'd be wide enough, but it's come out perfect IMO

You can see too that I've removed the splitter (the paint is going to have to have a tidy up!) and fitted the foglight blanks.

Great work Ben, although never been a fan of aftermarket angel eyes. 36 looking awesome as always.

Had a busy day yesterday, too.

Finished off my induction kit - only got this pic of it before I fitted it. Filter oil smeared across the lens, great! It's all been painted crackle black, the filter has been serviced and I attached some rubber bits to the bottom to stop it scraping the chassis leg, as well as the mods I mentioned a couple of pages back.

    Then before:

    After:

You'll also notice in those pics that I've now fitted my M3 Evo topmounts

Yesterday me and my mate Ben headed up to visit Kav and George (aka KG Kustoms) for a touch of work to both our cars. This included generation 2 angel eyes for the pair, as well as LED interior bulbs for mine - the parts were all supplied by Hidesh at carproductsdirect.com (CPD), who also headed down to lend a hand.

This was my lights before, just the LED sidelight on here:

This was the kit, which came complete with the wiring loom for remote fade:

Kav set to work on the lights themselves, while George tackled the wiring, which he did so that the angels would run as DRLs.

    And ta-dah!

    And then fitted:

Kav also fitted my carbon dial surround for me, which Ben kindly bought me after I did a couple of bits to his '46 - after I took the 'after' pic we noticed the fuel gauge so it had to come apart again!

    Before:

    After:

My LED interior bulbs were also then fitted, though my car is a bit of a tip so I'll get some decent pics when it's a little tidier! I was impressed by the fact that the floor-lighting ones replace the complete light unit rather than just the bulb, and as a result they're super-bright and look fantastic, as do the rest of the CPD bulbs.

Once Ben's E46 was sorted, we were then ready to head home, as two happy customers:

Ben's mate & passenger Jamie also borrowed my camera and got some cracking shots!

    Quite like these too:

All-in-all, a cracking day, and I'm really pleased with how much fresher and meaner the Touring now looks! Next up is to fit new arch liners (as you can see I don't have any at all at the mo) and remove the splitter, which I'll probably replace with an M3 one. Quite looking forward to seeing it without one at all though!
