  • BRUCE from nothing to most ***** :P

Hey everyone now before i begin i know i could never stand up to some of the crazy things you guys do (green goblin build being an insane effort) but i thought this a good community to document my build and the stages i have gone through

so lets begin, in 2007 i passed my test and was given my grandmothers old (but in great nick) ford KA. this lasted three weeks before some legally blind guy thought his punto would look great 12" into the drivers seat! but the love had already been planted and within two months my brand new 2007 ford ka was build and shipped to my local dealer.

as i had planed on modding my first ka i had a set of new angle eye headlights waiting to go on when it was crashed. so first day with the keys the standard came out and new ones went in. looking at these now i dunno what i was thinking but i loved it lol

this was a little shoot i did by myself before i new about the scene and what people near me where doing but soon got myself some attention from the local modders.

little home grown mods came and went like the painted steels, stickers, tow eye etc and many photos where taken this is the stage when i fell in love with it.

this is how the ka stayed for a long time (nearly a year before the money started to flow a little more (what with being on a uk students budget) first came a set of badly painted black escort GTI's which turned the car from a nippy little city car into a back road corner lover. then tinted lights and yer more stickers and a good wash or two.

(sorry for the standard height i promise it gets better )

but before i could get better it seems someone somewhere needed me to suffer so i stacked it. i slid on the ice and took out a double legged road sign on a roundabout and this is what i woke up to the next morning

    poor bruce :'(

took two days off work and had a friend spray a new front for me while i used a rope a concrete post and the cover of darkness to straighten out the cross member. after just two attempts the front returned to its correct position and with the new front on everything was fine once again he lived and the first part of his life was over and i was full of new ideas!

Part Two was ready to begin!

firstly my dad (pictured :P) armed with a drill helped me strip the rear out of all the cheap nasty plastics as the original plan was a track slag look with engine conversion to match. however after meeting with the low&slow scene i found my new home. so coilies where the first thing on the shopping list and after a £1000 tax rebate the dream of speed bump dodging became a reality

oh yer and some camber sneeked its way onto the arse end :P

after spending alot of time at shows, meets etc i decided that the low and slow smoothed and wide look was for me. firstly i sent my only freshly painted front off to the shop to be smoothed leaving my with my slagy black/multi coloured front.
then had to sort myself out with some dish next so hunted high and low and finally found a local (ish) place that sold my much wanted weller steel wheels. these black steel multi fitment wheels are usually found on stock cars and the odd dub but i wanted the banded look with factory fresh legality!

heres the pictures of my odd ratty/wide/missmatch/badly fitting stage lol very quickly realising that the rears were too big and with not wanting to be beaten i gritted my teeth and put the old steels back on and found myself a wide rear bumper and sent it off to the shop to be painted and smoothed. just as i did that the smooth front came back and was fitted, really happy with how it turned out

now im currently at a stage where things keep going wrong my cash flow is low, costs are high and with things like a cracked windscreen, number plate fines, gearboxes blowing up (pics of the rebuild below, real broke status lol) its hard hoping that before xmas the rear and the wellers are all on and painted ford sierra cream with the window done and i can be ready to start work on the NOS build and the interior

cheers for reading all this if u made it to the end, C&C welcome but remember its not cool but i love it :P x

so mentioned above the new rear bumper that i have being painted currently this is a pic of how the back should be turning out but with alot more lows and a double helping of mental camber to tuck my 8" steels under the arch.

so funky looking but yet so cool when modded

why not try some small tires on the steelies like you guys have over there? less sidewall and youll get alot lower

@hinrichs yer they are just a really weird size being 13" by 8"s so currently running 165,65,r13 and really want some 175,50,r13's but they are rare as rocking horse shit!

I keep looking at it and thinking "man that looks good" when I know I shouldn't!
