  • VIP Style Odyssey build "HELP"

OK...so my build is a RL1 chassis .A friend has a set of Advans wheels for sale that are mint and he just took off his GS300 . I go to the crib and do a test fit to see what I am workin wit..I like the look but in need of help on what to do wit the sliding door problem.Keep in mind that the van is still @ stock height .

Info on wheels: Advan Racing Wheels:

    Rear-20x10.5 offset 24

My issue is the the wheels are wide in the back that the doors will not clear without some modifications. I do body and paint so the stretch metal process is no problem . I have heard there is some door extenders for the Odyssey vans but haven't been able to locate any. I have taken some measurements and the front fenders need about a 2" pull and the qtr's need about 3" pull, but then I need for the slide doors to open and close properly.I'm used to building one off rides but this has me alittle dumb founded . I want this to be the only Odyssey on the East Coast of its kind. Any advice GOOD OR BAD is welcomed!! Oh and please forgive the crappy pics, BB phone

If you do body work surely you could fab up some brackets to extend the door sliders? You need to lower the car on the wheels before making those measurements if you just measured as in the pics, I'm not 100% on Odyssey suspension but you'll probably find you don't need that much pull, I rekon it'd look tits with a lil poke though

not really sure on van fitment, but like said before your deffinitly going to have to lower it to really see how the wheels fit

they are deffinately not going to sit like that when the car is on the ground. You cant test fit wheels without loading the suspension. Set it down with the wheels on blocks of wood and try again

Gullwing the door???? But like said above...in order to get a more accurate idea of how the rims will sit you need to lower it on the rims.

Thanks for the input guys!! Guess I'll have to go ahead and install my air suspension and see what really needs to be done. As far as the measurements of the distance from the panels, I figured it would change the geometry some, but not enough to fix my sliding door challenge.

@ anonymoose..I can fab up some brkts but I am tryin to explore all my options first..the problems wit the Odysseys are that they have contact pins that are located in the front of the door that I am not totally sure what they control, amongst some other issues I have been thinkin on.

            @ jawdropper...I considered that!! lol

            @ Tuck and Poke...I'll do that..Thanks

How much distance do you have from the inside of the door to the edge of the fender?

As has been said, lower it then work out the clearences... If you already have the air suspension, just fit the struts and drop it without any of the fittings.. Alternatively, pull the struts out and either jack up the suspension with the wheels on it, or lower the body to where it will sit.
