You have to realise, This is a 2 tonne car, that is not built for speed, but luxury. You cant compare this to any sports car. as for the drag, just because the shape looks sleek does not mean it cuts through the air better then other cars.
Like I said, Good on you for trying to do something different. Jusk keep in mind that its easier said then done, and you will need very deep pockets to achieve your goal.Originally posted by anthLucky they didn't come into your house and disrespect your whole family.

You'll have to do some serious aero work. It's not just a function of power to weight ratios. The power to top speed relationship is an exponential function, which means that once your aero is set, you'll be adding extra horsepower in an exponential fashion to reach equally spaced mph targets.
For example (numbers out of my posterior).
The HP increase required to go from 185 - 190 could be 20hp
The HP increase required to go from 190 - 195 could be 45hp
The HP increase required to go from 195 - 200 could be 80hp
It'll add up quick
I think on the salt falts they call it "hitting the wall"
The resistance of air at those speeds is more than you might think.Last edited by TheNeek; 09-10-2010, 10:53 AM.

I am just copying this from posts I made earlier.
There is more to 200+ mph, than CoD, and go fast parts. I hope he realizes that Corvettes, Vipers, Ferrari's barely crack 200 mph, and they are engineered for that. 30 mph is nothing when going from 100-130 but after 150, air starts to get thick, fast.
People should take a look at the new Zenvo ST1, 1,104hp can barely crack 200. In case you didn't catch how much power it has, thats ONE THOUSAND ONE HUNDRED FOUR HORSEPOWER.- Kielan (Key-lin)

They are also engineered to go that fast, Look at the Veyron SS, in order to get that extra 11 mph they had to add 196 hp. The thing is also just about as slippery as can be, I'm sorry but if you think your Passat is that Aerodynamic you are living a dream, I would honestly be surprised if a tune and exhaust got you that extra 15 mph, I really don't think you understand just how thick air resistance you are dealing with, and what is required to attain these speeds. It DOES NOT boil down to HP = Speed. It just doesn't and so far that seems to be what you think.- Kielan (Key-lin)

It takes 500hp for the Veyron to his 185 and the other 500 for it to go 185-256. The Zenvo has a top speed of 233mph? Which is electronically limited. http://www.thesupercars.org/zenvo/2009-zenvo-st1/
