Woaaaah.
Saw a blue BMW Z8 on the Autobahn right now. With M6 wheels with meaty but low profile tires sitting flush under the arches. Car looked to be pretty dropped as well... amazing

anyone know what the best stuff for restoring plastic trim to black? back to black is the only stuff i've ever used and it doesn't last long.

Try PreWow and BlackWow! PreWow is a pre-cleaner and does a wonderful job getting the plastics really clean, I just did my b and c pillars with it which I've NEVER gotten to look nice again and now they're a nice flat spotless black.
The BlackWow is to be used after PreWow and is a impressive black restorer, but you should take note to only use a pea sized amount on an applicator pad and DON'T get it on your paint.
Downside is this stuff is a bit expensive.

The best there is, is supposed to be Gtechniq C4... same rules as for BlackWow apply, only a tiny drop and don't get it on the paint. But additionally it also needs the parts to be degreased beforehand. Some guy on a german car care forum tested it a while ago, the trim stayed deep black for nearly 10 months.
Or you could always try the old standby (but I would only do this on parts away from the car, or more specifically not near anything painted!) and heat the parts using a heat gun, returns them to black as well, but it's easy to ruin the parts or your paint if you heat too long!
