  • semi-new to stanceworks...

so, ive been lurking around stanceworks since i got my 2000 gti vr6 back in december 09. ive finally reached a point where i am 90% done with the exterior and i figured i would make an intro thread.

this is my 8th volkswagen, and i bought it because an ex-friend of mine crashed my previous car into a pole at 60mph (with me in the passenger seat).

    when i bought it:

    january 10:

    april 10:

    current:

euro bumpers, front and rear. 4motion front lip. color matched painted valances.
car went from uni-black to black magic pearl (20th ae, GLI, R32 color)
    fk coilovers

the wheels are oem porsche 911 twists.
    18x7.5 et 50 front, 18x10 et 65 rear. h&r adapters are 25mm front and 35mm rear.
    225/40/18 all around

im also working on these retrofits right now...they are bixenon from a land rover lr3, with audi a4 ballasts. i want to keep them stock looking, so the housings are staying chrome.

once i get these on and wired up, the exterior will almost be done.
im thinking about sideskirts. and i am going to bring the backs down another half inch or so...clean the car and then take proper pics.

    so...how am i doing?

Pretty good. Can't wait to see the end result for the retrofits.

Nice! You got the tires mounted okay I see, did you end up going to Goodyear? Only thing I'd change is going to a 215/40 up front to get it a little bit lower and add a little stretch up there

i didnt end up going to goodyear. long story short, i should have gone to goodyear but my best friend ended up "knowing a guy"....

yea im strongly considering 215's....only the front drivers side tire rubs (on dips/bumps) and the fenders are rolled. im only at 24" fender to ground too...and i want to be at least 23".

do you think 215/35 is going to be too small? or should i go with 215/40?

215/35 seems a little small too me. 215/40 would be perfect I think, and then you can go that inch lower, and then I will be very happy to take some picsss.

              hmm...what about 205/40?
there will be more stretch....is there anyone who's pulled off stretch on a 7.5?

Definitely no go on 215/35/18, they're baby tires on MK4s and the equivalent of running 205/40/17s on a MK4. 205/40/18 is in between a 215/40 and 215/35 in overall diameter and a good size to run but only if you're going to be slammed (below 23" probably). I have a couple of friends running that size on 9" wheels on air but they're pretty small for a static drop imo

215/40/18 Falken 512s are similar to a 205/40/18 from Toyo or Nitto bc of how small 512s run

I don't care for the Euro tags, but otherwise looks great.
